This boutique hotel deserves my first-ever online review - we went to Salida for a last-minute getaway for our 10 year anniversary and had no hotel reservations. This historic hotel has just been remodeled and is perfectly done, simple and comfortable design, very clean (no bad smells like many old hotels). Excellent morning room service included (fresh baked muffins and coffee were so good!) Great front desk service and ideal location. We did have the Governor's suite, so the view was good, some of the rooms do not have views but are very nice.

Great location- right out the front doors are the amazing shops, restaurants, and awesome river walk. We looked at several other places before getting reservations and are glad we stuck with this one. Nice setting inside. Rooms are big. Would be perfect for an extended stay as well.

My husband and I were heading north from Pagosa Springs stopping in little towns as we came upon them. Thankfully, we saw the small sign indicating downtown Salida, and quickly turned off the main thoroughfare. We found the Palace Hotel, which was originally built in 1909, and decided to stay there. The new owners did a fabulous job refurbishing the place, turning a 44 room hotel into 14 lovely suites. The original woodwork is beautiful, and the very tasteful decorating was elegant and warm. The suites were very reasonably priced, and a yummy breakfast was even delivered to our room in the morning. We loved the Palace Hotel and the quaint, artistic town.

We really enjoyed our night at the Palace Hotel. Each of the four suites occupied by our traveling group was tastefully done and very comfortable. The continental breakfast was delivered to our room on time and was very tasty. The location in downtown Salida is convenient to restaurants and shopping. The river is only a few steps away. Would love to stay there again!

We had a wonderful five night stay at Salida's historic Palace Hotel, located in Salida's charming downtown area. The hotel's impressive restoration has retained the inn's history, while offering modern day comforts. The Palace Hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Salida's array of charming arts & crafts, crystal/mineral gems shops, & arts events (at Salida's restored Steamplant Center). The hotel's staff goes out of its way to make all guests feel welcome and comfortable.

My husband and I stayed in room 306, the Spyglass Suite, for two nights. We were out to fish and kayak a few local lakes, and couldn't have found better accommodations. The hotel is quaint, beautiful, and tastefully decorated. Our room was very comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchenette area. We were in a corner room that looked down on the park and also on the river, so we enjoyed our views. Noise was not a problem at all; the hotel, while full, was very quiet. We had no trouble parking behind the hotel (we were there mid-week), and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see (the river, restaurants).

The staff couldn't have been nicer. As a matter of fact, the owner and my husband got to talking about fishing in the area, and he brought a book by for my husband to look at, written by a local author, that covered a lot of lakes in the area. (I ended up tracking the author down and purchased it later as a birthday present for my husband.) This is just one example of the personal touches that we experienced during our stay.

Other reviews talked about the breakfast, and we agree that it was excellent as well - how can you not like warm muffins? We had brought breakfast items with us but the continental breakfast was enough to get us started on the day.

Many of the other reviews posted here highlight the positive aspects of the hotel in much more detail, so I am not going to repeat them here - just thoroughly agree with their observations. I could continue to gush about the Palace Hotel, but part of me wants to keep this wonderful hotel a secret, for just a little while longer

The palace hotel is beautiful, unique, & cozy! The owners are very welcoming & take a lot of pride in their hotel, which shows. The palace is located in downtown Salida, & only a few steps away from the river! Great location!
