Description: Almost all of our food is sourced within 100 miles of our location in Salida, CO and all of our products are made in Colorado. We are constantly forming new relationships with exceptional local producers, bringing their great local products to a central, easily accessible sales point in the heart of Salida and creating the best customer shopping experience we possibly can. Converting food dollars back into the local economy, as opposed to large corporations, is our way of sustaining Colorado small business. We want to our producers to come to value us as a great partner in growing their businesses and our customers to think we are the coolest food store they have ever experienced. We find that our customers want more than generic grocery meats and produce. They want fresh, delicious foods that are raised right here in Colorado, by our Colorado neighbors - pasture-raised beef, pork, yak and chicken, seasonal vegetables ranging from juicy fruits in the fall to beautiful organic vegetables in the summer and of course Colorado-based milk and cheese products. We also craft beautiful soups, sandwiches, main dishes and desserts in our own kitchen for you to enjoy.

Did not buy much produce because of the price. The bread was good as well as the cinnamon rolls early in the morning. If you want to eat them while they are hot, bring your own coffee. There is a Starbucks in the Safeway across the street - go there first.

We found the Ploughboy restaurant in Salida, Colorado today, and can hardly believe our luck! You will LOVE this place!

1. The Ploughboy has fabulous food. We could hardly decide what to get from all the great- looking options, so we tried a few different things. They were all delicious! We had stuffed acorn squash, a frittata, rosemary-olive oil bread, and apple crisp and each one was perfection.
2. The atmosphere is unique and FUN. The restaurant is a visual delight. The store has many unusual products and is a joy to browse. You'll find lots of things that you'll want to buy.
3. The owners are FABULOUS. It's worth the trip just to meet them and enjoy their warmth and charm.

If you're in Salida, you MUST visit Ploughboy. If you're not in Salida, go there and visit Ploughboy! You'll love it as much as we do.

Great deli, fun music (maybe David Allan Coe if Dave is picking it, some techno rap or something if the girls are), delicious breads and constantly changing. Seasonal foods, locally sourced. Salida is lucky to have this place.

This is more of a store and less of a restaurant, although they have some nice tables inside and out.

The chili pepper mac and cheese and the apple cake with frosting (there will be organized protests at the corner of H and 3rd if they don't cook this more) - OMG.

The Ploughboy is like bringing your local farmer's market indoors! But, add a bakery, deli and meat coolers, as well as locally grown produce. You've got a great place to find something to fix for dinner tonight! Or a unique gift! Or an ingredient build a new recipe from. I enjoy the interesting locally make products (sunflower seed brittle from Andrew's Candies in Woodland Park, anyone?) Today I bought outdoor seat cushions for my deck chairs make from recycled feed sacks. They are quirky and I can't wait to use them! This is definitely a place to stop in and browse, sample, ask questions and enjoy. It's a sampler of the best that Colorado has to offer for all of you "foodies" out there.

You don't have to buy, you can just browse and have fun. All Colorado products and a very good deli. Worth a visit.
