Salad bar was very nice. Meat was average, but high priced. Sides weren't priced and the server would go to the cash register. And ring one in before he could tell you the price. The bill showed a mandatory tip that was never mentioned. The advertised 30% off special was short changed and the total was too high and the itemized bill and the waiter were missing . I finally gave up waiting and left.
Too many good restaurants around to go here.

Had I written this review two years ago, it would have been excellent. We still like chatting with complete strangers around the two (huge) grills while preparing your food - always news about the snow situation, great hikes or runs, etc.... The disappointment comes from the creeping loss of quality in the meat offered, while prices creep up. The sides also seem to lose taste - so if you go just have the salad bar and the steaks - cannot recommend anything else. Prices now almost on par with steak houses where your food is "professionally" prepared by a chef, while here it's your own fault if it's too well done or burnt. Expect cheap furniture and lost luster from the good old times. Great for groups and for entertainment (at the grill as mentioned).

My husband and I had the best time here. We have never been to a cook your own steak type of place. You are able to go to the in house butcher shop to choose your own cut of meat. Ribeyes are cut to order. My husband purchased a 24.5 oz one. He was very happy. They have a few seasonings to put on them. Butter on the salad bar. Bread for toast. They have a la carte items as well, We shared a twice baked potato. Nice salad bar. No boiled eggs. Real bacon bits. The staff is super friendly. Very knowledgeable on grilling steaks. So if you have never grilled, don't worry they can guide you.

We will definitely go back if in the area.

Took three grand kids here for dinner. Walked right in and were seated immediately on Saturday night. Waiter very helpful explaining how things worked. Enjoyed the salad bar and then ordered steaks. Kids enjoyed helping to cook the steaks, which were very good and cooked to perfection. Side dishes nothing special. Atmosphere not fancy so didn't have to worry about kids bothering anyone.

My wife and I and our two kids ate here on 3/12/14. All of us are steak eaters and have been to many steak restaurants all over America. I've got good and bad things to say about this place. First the good: The steaks are very high quality and delicious, the salad bar is basic but well-stocked, and for entertainment purposes, my kids enjoyed grilling their steaks. The bad: there are so many outrageous hidden costs, that this place is no where near the bargain they claim. It is also old and dingy looking. The calamari appetizer, at $15.99 (there are no prices on the appetizer list) was more expensive than some of the steaks and ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CALAMARI ANYWHERE. The rubber rings came out of a frozen bag. I stated to the waitress after receiving the bill about how this charge should be told to the patrons before ordering, and she said she would tell the customers for now on. No other attempt of retribution was given. We left a third of the portion because they were tasteless. There is also a hidden charge for splitting a steak which isn't posted anywhere. The creamed spinach was sour. As a final note, there is a sign behind the butcher that posts prices of steaks at other restaurants and the additional foods received (because your steak at the Mint- if you don't share it- comes with a salad), which are all written with a "zippo." The owner obviously doesn't do his research because anyone who has dined at Bern's in Tampa (where I live) could tell you that your steak dinner comes with salad, soup, vegetables- not "zippo."
