If you're looking for a quaint Victorian-style B&B with an attentive proprietor and terrific breakfasts, look no further than the Inn of the Rockies, which is also known as the Alma House.
I just returned from a two-night stay and found this inn to be a terrific accomodation. Dan, the proprietor, was very friendly and made sure he catered to his guests' special requests. I got to peek inside many of the rooms and found them to be nicely-furnished and clean.
There were only two reasons I didn't give this a 5-star review. One was the fact that there was no living room area to speak of. I personally like B&B's that have a living room where guests can puruse books, sit by a fire, talk to each other and grab a late-afternoon hot drink. It would be nice if Dan would keep the lights on in the dining area, add a few bookshelves, put on a pot of coffee and make it an inviting place for guests to visit after they're finished with the day's activities.
The only other thing affecting my rating was the fact that my room (#1) was cold. It was comfortable and private, but it never heated up adequately. There was only one small baseboard heater, and it didn't put out enough heat during nights that reached well below zero.
Overall--The Inn of the Rockies is a great place! You won't be disappointed.More
