“Old Hundred Mine.”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Set in spectacular surroundings and just a few minutes north of Silverton, the Old Hundred Mine is well worth a visit. The short trip underground in an open car is fun and not at all scary and once down to the old working level the guided tour is interesting and your guide knowledgeable. Temperature is cool but the provided waterproof jacket helps, wear a jacket if you feel the cold. Tunnels are spacious and airy so it isn't claustrophobic. Don't be afraid to ask questions, that's what your guide is there for.

“Fun and Informative”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

After hiking for two days we took a side trip and found this great mine. Jake our guide was funny, smart, and wonderful with the kids in our group. After a short train ride into the mine we enjoyed a tour on foot, saw how equipment was used, and given plenty of time for picture taking. Getting to the mine involves a gravel road but keep going, it is worth the trip. We really enjoyed the tour.

“Nice Mine Tour”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Overall this is a very good tour. My son was a little disappointed as he thought he was going to be able to dig for gold in the mine. It is a very informative tour that shows you how miners mined the gold and silver out of the mountain. They do have a an area to do some panning but we did not find anything.

“Fun Fun Fun (and a bit wet)”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

A great tour guide and raincoats provided. (Bring good wet-floor walking shoes.... no high heels.) This was educational and fun. Pan for silver and copper while waiting for the tour. This is a few miles out of Silverton. The road turns to gravel for the last mile or so. Don't let that discourage you.

“a little short on expectation”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

we had a nice tour with Joe on July 5th 2014, he was easy going and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the 45 min odd tour about the mining history there. Although, I thought the Gold mine tour should have some more informative stuff about gold and how and why did the explorers came here looking for it, but there was nothing told about that. It was just a regular mining tour. having said that Joe did demonstrate the working of a few mining equipment which was pretty cool. I rate it between average and good.
