“Gem of a Find”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

After a late start due to rock slide clean up on highway 550, we drove into Silverton in the evening, passing by a couple of less-than-attractive motels in town. We then stumbled upon a gem - the Wyman Hotel. Built in 1902 it is filled with antiques and charm. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. My wife availed herself of delicious rum cake and tea in the lobby. We decided not to pay the extra $10 per person for breakfast the next morning and that was probably a mistake. The only word of caution is that there is no elevator and it is a long hike up the staircase to the rooms. All in all, a fine place to stay in Silverton

My family and I stayed at the Wyman a few days ago. We walked in and were graciously greeted by Tana. Our rooms were charming and as my 11 year son noted..."each had it's own character." There were always snacks and drinks available to us in the lobby and breakfast was fantastic. But as charming as the hotel is, Tana is the real star here. She was watching my dad (who is 74) and saw that his coloring was off and was breathing a little funny. As it turns outs, she is a medic and asked to take his blood pressure and oxygen level. As she thought, he was not doing well in this higher altitude. She called 911 and handled the situation and my dad with such care and calmness. My dad got the oxygen he need and she helped to arrange for him to go back on a bus (instead of the train we came up on. She even personally drove him to the bus so he wouldn't have to walk the few blocks. The next day, my dad admitted that he didn't know what was really going on and is truly grateful that Tana took the care and push him to get the proper help he need. She may have even saved his life. Thank you, Tana!!!! You are an amazing hostess. We are very grateful to you.

We just spent five days at the Wyman. I don't know what to rave about first, the host, the food, the room, the bed.
Our host Tana treated us like friends. The breakfast each morning was a gourmet surprise. The entire hotel is furnished with antiques that make you feel like you have stepped back in history.
Our room had 12 foot ceilings and was tastefully decorated. The king size bed had a down mattress topper and a down comforter with 600 count sheets, the height of comfort.

We rode up on the train and stayed two nights in the Wyman. We opt'd for the Bed and Breakfast full experience. Tana (the owner) was there at the station waiting for us in a trolley car, she was so friendly and really went out of her way to make our stay the very best. The building itself is absolutely amazing and the food is gourmet, an experience like no other. We truly didn't want to leave, the town is so friendly and the people there are so easy to talk to. The view is beyond words and the Wyman experience was the icing on the cake. The bed was so comfortable and we had a whirlpool bath in our room. Watching the sun rise in the tub is pretty darn awesome. We will plan another trip and this is going to be a longer stay next time.

Room Tip: We had the wildflower room, but the train room looked equally nice. The wildflower room is in the fr...

Right downtown and walking distance to everything. The rooms were all decorated differently in "period" themes. The breakfast and afternoon wine party are included and we met some lovely people. Despite the fact we liked the Wyman, Silverton is pretty destitute with many closed storefronts and if we had it to do again we'd probably skip it and go directly to Ouray which is beautiful.

A beautiful, authentic victorian style hotel, with all the modern amenities. Our room was the 'railroad room' - a gorgeous king suite with a jacuzzi tub and a view of the mountains. The proprietor, Tana, was phenomenal... She always had a smile on her face and made us feel right at home. The amenities provided were beyond what we expected, including the very comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. We found a new favorite place to be, and will definitely be back...stay here, you will be happy you did! :)

Fantastic Bed & Breakfast Experience.
Very nice personal touch given to the guests.
Rooms & Bed are cleaned every day with exceptional detail.
Breakfast was very good, usually served egg dishes.
Nice atmosphere in main lobby for meeting and talking to other
guests in the afternoons & evenings.
If I go to Silverton again, I would automatically stay here again.

Room Tip: Elevator Room was very spacious & comfortable. Note they do have a limited number of rooms.
