All appeared to by clean and casual. However our bed was stiff as board. The bedside light was broken, and cobwebs in the outside window at the top. I informed the clerk by hand written message as he is not always on duty. Our room has a private bath, toilet and shower, as several other rooms do not. the toilets and showers are just across from the clerks desk for these rooms. It is old and that is the charm. As usual the photos are a bit glitzy than the real place, however this hotel is nice and our night was quiet. (no bar below on first floor.)

Room Tip: this hotel is up stairs and U must carry your own bags. Rooms face the main st and some face the si...

We stopped here for two nights during August 2012. We had previously stopped in the Wyman Hotel, Silverton, but when we arrived they only had suites available, so we decided on the Teller House instead. We made a good choice....... Rooms were clean and of a good size, and decoration throughout was very "Olde Worlde". There was also a breakfast room / sitting room for the use of guests which we found useful. Cost of stay was also reasonable. Downside is that you have to carry your luggage up a fairly long flight of steep stairs as there is no lift here. OK for youngsters but not for seniors. Stop here and you will not be dissapointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with private facilities, otherwise you will be sharing with others......

Teller House has a real ambience. A lovely place to stay. No air-conditioning which wasn't great for me but acceptable given mostly everything else was in order. Not a fan of common bathrooms but again we could overlook that in favour of the experience. Clean.

the rooms were cute and all individually decorated. Really gives you the real Silverton experience. No Televisions, which is a lovely idea. If you are on the main street it is a little noisy, but it quiets down early. Great little hotel - great evening!

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Teller House on several occasions and each was a delight. The rooms are beautifully decorated in Victorian charm yet warm and comfortable any time of the year, with soft cotton sheets in the summer and toasty down comforters in the winter. The hotel is always clean and well-maintained, down to the lace doilies adorning the antique dressers in each room. The unparalleled views of the surrounding San Juan Mountains are spectacular and its location on Main Street make it perfectly situated to walk anywhere in town. I love Silverton and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere but the Teller House!

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful! Choose #2 or #9 for spaciousness and Main Street views; #8 for cozy romance...

I called the hotel six months in advance and reserved all the rooms with two beds in them for a ski club trip to Silverton Mountain, and I was told no problem. I called three months later, and found that they had given away some of the rooms with two beds such that our group did not have enough rooms with two beds. I was told that they had a room with a sleeper sofa, so we decided to keep the reservation. The sleeper sofa was VERY uncomfortable, so two guys shared a queen bed. The hotel still charged us the extra $15 charge even though the sleeper sofa was not used after the first night. The hotel would not print out three pages from their computer for two of our travelers, as that was against policy. The price was good, but the service was not up to par.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a firm reservation for the specific room type that you want, and get it in writi...

We do our best to accommodate guests with the rooms they desire in advance; however without a full commitment from all guests in a party it is unfair to tentatively hold rooms. Additional occupancy fees are $15/night per person. There is no charge related to the sleeper sofa. Our policy regarding the desktop computer and printer is that they are for staff use only. It was a shame when these particular guests were caught using the hotel computer.

Having never been to Silverton, we didn't know what to expect. Based on reviews of this hotel, we called ahead to see if there were any rooms available not realizing that our visit was a week before this sleepy little mountain town shuts down. We had our choice of rooms as we were literally the ONLY guests in the hotel. We had a room with a private bath facing the street. The room was clean and quiet (obviously!), the bed was comfy, and the man running the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Although we talked to him quite a bit, unfortunately, I don't think we ever got his name. He recommended the restaurant downstairs from the hotel and told us there was live entertainment at the Silverton Brewery down the street. We did eat at the Teller House Restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised! My husband loved his steak and my sherry chicken was oh-so-yummy! Not a fancy salad, mostly iceberg, but surprisingly fresh especially considering the remoteness of this town. The waitress was super friendly. She is originally from Silverton and we loved hearing about the town from her. Also, surprising was the nice selection of wines. My only suggestion for the restaurant is to tone down the overhead lights as it gave it a little of a cafeteria feel.
We ran into the hotel manager out on the town pretty late that evening and I joked with my husband that I bet he didn't have coffee ready for us in the morning. Well......he did! We loved this place!
