“Great location and great price with all the basics”
Reviewed 23 March 2009

This hotel was recommended to me by a Snowmass instructor who's been working there since 1969. The location can't be beaten; right across from the mall and the lifts. This is not a luxury hotel, but it has everything you need for a week of skiing. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. There's a TV, fridge, coffee maker and wireless internet (for a fee). Breakfast is free (but very basic) next door at the Pokolodi lodge. There's a shuttle that will pick you up from the airport on demand for free. There's also a pool and spa. I was there (solo) for a week and it was very comfortable. The mall is right across the road and there's lots of shops and restaurants there. The T-Shirt company is a good store and there's a great Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store too. I found Gene Taylors the best ski and clothing store for prices (buying) and SunSetSki upstairs the best for premium rentals - good prices and they setup their skis really well. A great food recommendation is a little place called The Stew Pot. Fantastic stews and soups on the specials board each night and very reasonably priced. I ate there several times (again after it was recommended to me). Buses to the other mountains are easy and free plus they'll take you into Aspen itself or to the airport.

The Snowmass Inn is a budget hotel located directly next to the lifts in Aspen Snowmass. You literally cannot find anything in this price range that is better located. Dozens of restaurants and shops are just steps away.

The Inn itself is basic, well-used, but comfortable. The staff was nice, and the breakfast decent. The room had a fridge though so we did grocery shopping in the village and just stocked up the fridge with extras. The only complaint I have was that the bathroom was carpeted (yuck!) and very out-dated. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you, but if you plan on spending your days on the slopes and your nights sound asleep in a comfortable bed, this is your haven!

The Snowmass Inn is in the perfect location and has an attractive price (we paid just $85/night). However, the Inn could use some updating. The moldy shower curtain and stained pillows left something to be desired. The rooms are huge, but need a little TLC. New paint, carpets, and linens could go a long way to make this place nicer.

On the flip side, the hot tub and pool were extremely well maintained and clean.

This Inn is economical but it is tired. The beds are worn, bed covers worn, the towels second rate, the bathroom fixtures marginal at best. Parking is a nightmare. After check-in, you may have to park at one of 13 parking lots strung out along the access road. Breakfast isn't until 8AM. The staff even denied that guests at Snowmass Inn were entitled to breakfast.

good deal. for the price, the facilities were pretty good.

the only thing we were concerned of was that no breakfast was provided at snowmass inn when we were there in early Oct. and even worse, the village does not have a breakfast place. bring some snacks with you just in case :-)

I really liked this hotel. The Snowmass Inn was a really great deal. We reserved a room and were pleasantly surprised when we got a rather large room with two double beds, a large wardrobe and a decent sized refrigerator. The place smelled and looked very clean. The maid service cleaned our room in the early afternoon instead of bypassing us since we slept in. We did not get up in time for the continental breakfast, but they had a nice little nook with two tables and a smattering of couches and chairs. The lobby had a list of restaurants in the area, complete with priced menus. The front desk was very helpful and competent. This hotel is also located next to the Village Mall, but I would aviod the restaurants here and go to Aspen if you're looking for a romantic spot. I was a little apprehensive since this was the cheapest place in the Snowmass/Aspen area, but was extremely pleased with our choice. Note: This hotel has a lot of very steep sidewalks so it could be tricky for anyone who is wheelchair bound.

  • Liked — The location and the price!
  • Disliked — The walls were a little thin, but not too bad.

Perfect location overcomes the age of the hotel. Our room was very clean with new carpet that we didn't feel we had to wear slippers to keep our feet clean. The hot tub was fabulous with a heated pool attached, and we slipped in and out of both. The breakfast was okay for free, and they don't have a kitchen, so they did pretty good for what they had. I liked it. The beds were comfortable, and we had a great week on the slopes! I love Snowmass!
