“Nice Hotel in the Heart of Snowmass”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2011

My partner and I visited the Stonebridge Inn for a week in March 2011. The common areas of the hotel (lobby / reception) are well looked after and modern and the reception staff were excellent (providing good restaurant recommendations, driving directions). We didnt eat dinner at the hotel restaurant, however we did watch the magician one night (who was excellent and lots of fun) and had breakfast on morning. The breakfast was excellent but a little overpriced ($15 per head and it doesnt include tea or coffee).

We stayed in a ridge view room which looked out across the front of the hotel. Overall we were happy with the room. The bed was very comfy, large flat screen TV and the room was a good size (bigger than your standard hotel room). The rooms are not the most modern hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The bathroom vanity was pretty old, but clean, as was the bathroom fixtures and wardrobe. The facilities in the hotel were excellent. The hot tubs and outdoor pool are excellent - very clean and never too busy.

The location of the Stonebridge is one of the best things about the hotel. The free shuttle bus to Aspen / Buttermilk / Highlands departs from right outside the hotel. The mall in Snowmass is a 3 mins walk away and the ski hill is about a 1 min walk away.

Overall we loved our stay at the Stonebridge and skiing in Snowmass and would stay there again if we return to the Aspen area.

Being the trip leader for 32 fellow skiers, I relied on our broker and a few on-line reviews to select the Stonebridge Inn for our 7 night ski trip to Snowmass. I opted to pre-pay for the breakfast which cost $10 a head, if I didn't pre-pay it would have cost $15.95 a head for walk ups. There was a fairly good variety of items for breakfast, The omelet / waffle chef was top notch. There were the same items each day. the quality was good and hot on the warm items. The only negative was breakfast was set to open at 7am, but is was 7:15 some mornings till all the items were brought out. Since the ski lifts started at 8:30, we wanted to get done with breakfast by 7:45 to give enough time to suit up.

The location is listed as "slope side". In truth it is one building away from the slope. Yes, the Stonebridge condo's are "slope side", but the Inn is not. They share the same pool/ hot tub complex which is located between the Inn and the condo's. It is only a 2 minute walk down the side street to the slopes.

It was a 3-4 minute walk uphill on the sidewalk to the Snowmass Mall for dinner or shopping. If you like a low cost dinner try the Stew Pot. Eat there 3 different nights...
There is a bus stop right across the street from the hotel to take you around the resort. If you want to go to Aspen, that bus stop is also just outside the hotel door. It was about a 30 minute ride to Aspen.

The over-all appearance of the hotel as a whole was very nice. You can see even though the building is older, money has been spent to keep it updated. The rooms were freshly updated both soft and hard goods. We had a top floor room were we had a vaulted ceiling. The room size was average for a hotel room. As said I was the trip leader for this trip where we had 15 rooms. All the rooms were updated and about the same size. Ours felt larger because of the vaulted ceiling. I was told the rooms on the lower few floors (2 & 3) (lobby is on floor #4) are individual condo's and many are not updated. Was told those rooms were given to people who reserved thru a on-line discounter.....

The pool and hot tubs were newer. They were updated in the summer of 2010' They now have 2 hot tubs, one about a 8-10 person and the other one about 25 person. The pool was a nice size and kept at a very nice temperature. The only complaint was the edging around the hot tubs was very rough cement, so if you were sitting in the hot tub and reaching around for your beverage, your forearms would get cut up if you brushed up against the rounded edging.

The staff was very friendly....Over-all our Feb 2011 trip was a very positive trip for our club.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has been updated....

I loved the Stonebridge Inn. The staff were wonderful and the shuttle service was so convenient. I did not need a rental car to get around Snowmass Village and Aspen.

The Artisan restaurant in the hotel has a great breakfast buffet. The food quality is excellent and the dinner menu is fit for foodies.

I traveled to the Stonebridge Inn for leisure with my 7 year old son. The pool and hot tubs were great and it is within walking distance to the slopes- great location. We were in a double hotel room and it was very comfortable. The only things I would say is that the service in the hotel restaurant is very slow- the food is good but expensive. Also, the heater in my room broke twice while I was there- actually getting stuck on and making the room very hot.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back side of the hotel

The Stonebridge Inn is very typical of what you would expect of a moderate-upscale ski resort in the Snowmass/Aspen area. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant just off the lobby has gourmet dinner fare. The rooms, of course, all have a ski theme and our room had a mini fridge. We were supposed to get a microwave, but there wasn't one and it wasn't important enough to me to comment about it to the management. We were there at the absolute height of ski season, so the room rate was the highest it gets. The lowest rate I found anywhere was about $200/nt, but they also offer a breakfast package when you book directly for about $30 more. So if you have 2 or more people in the room and plan to do their breakfast buffet every then that package is a good option. The buffet is $15/pp which is pretty high for what you get, in my opinion, but that can be said about the prices for absolutely everything in the area. The omelet station is really good, and if you only want an omelet then that option is $9/pp (I think) but no one told us that, we found out by accident. The omelet station can also fix you a very nice waffle.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Snowmass Mall and the lifts for Snowmass Mtn, and within an easy drive to Buttermilk or a 20min drive to all the shopping you can handle in Aspen. It's also on the shuttle route to absolutely everything in Snowmass Village. There's ample public parking across the street, but you have to purchase a village parking permit which is $30/wk. It was a very good value, we truly enjoyed our stay, but next time if we are staying a full week we'll probably rent a condo. Eating out gets very expensive in ski towns!!

We had a 4 night stay in this hotel and our stay was very comfortable. Ski area is accesible right by the hotel, however to rent equipment you have to go up the hill ( 10 minute walk or 2 minute by bus) to the snowmass mall. there is a busstop right in front of the hotel, very convenient to travel around or to Aspen. Breakfast buffet was good although a little expensive for what is served. The room was very well maintained, warm and silent. The large HD TV and tons of channels offer good entertainment. Our overall stay was satisfying and we would definitely stay here a second time. the hotel also paid our taxi fare when they couldnt send a shuttle to the airport.

We visit snowmass yearly, race all over the state, and live in a ski town. This hotel has among the worst customer service we have encountered. We asked for a 12:30 ( vs normal noon) checkout for our kid's race. Immediate response was no; despite hotel not even close to full, manager would not return a call. We were charged full adult breakfast rate for our 12 yr old and were told there was no discount , yet 7-12 yr olds are $6 cheaper. Elevator is barely functional, and walls are very thin. Exercise room is small-- only condo owners/users get the deluxe exercise room. Would not return here.

Dear Guest,

I wanted to apologize for our failure to respond appropriately to your request for a late check-out. We typically strive to ensure we honor as many late requests as possible (as well as early check-ins). If however, we are unable to accommodate such a request then we certainly need to do a better job of communicating other possible options to ensure our guests do not leave feeling as though their request was ignored or unimportant. I will personally ensure we review all of your comments with our entire management team to ensure future guests are not adversely affected. I am also very sorry that a manager, myself included, was not made aware of your situation prior to your departure in hopes that we could have resolved the issues that you encountered. If your travels bring you to the Snowmass area in the future, I would very much like the opportunity to earn back your patronage.
