“Honestly, you cannot beat this place!”

My honey does a boys trip each year to Steamboat and they always choose the Highmark. It is absolute luxury all the way around. The accomodations are amazing; you will not be disappointed! I called and asked for a bottle of his favorite rum and a platter of goodies for my honey and his friends and the Guest Services Manager and his staff handled my request with ease. My expectations were exceeded and the boys were thrilled. The accomodations are wonderful, the location fabulous, and the staff superb. Don't hesitate. Just book it now. 5 stars!

The hotel has the total package from a staff that goes above and beyond expectations to make the guest happy to a close distance to the mountain base - roughly a 2 minute walk. Great place to stay! Will 100% stay here again!

I coordinate an annual trip for our extended family of 26. When choosing accomodations for such a trip, I look for a certain level of luxury and service. It is always a challenge to accomodate such a large group. Highmark did so with finesse. We occupied two of the penthouse 4bed/4.5bath plus loft units and one 2bed/3bath unit. The units are beautifully appointed: high end appliances, flat screen television in every room, marble countertops in the baths and kitchen, tile shower and separate jetted tub in the master suite, balconies overlooking the resort area, and furniture one would expect to find in an upscale home. The resort is literally across the street from Gondola Square, where Highmark has a valet location so you will not need to transport your gear to and from the slopes. A private resort shuttle is always available to take you anywhere you need to go. The indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub are beautiful, convenient, and maintained daily. The staff is beyond exceptional. Joey met us at the front door. From that moment forward, there was nothing we could ask that he did not deliver. Joey handled dinner reservations, private lesson reservations, spa reservations... even procuring a razor (and a nice one!) on short notice. The level of service we experienced at the Highmark is unmatched in all our travels. You know the service is exceptional when your 15 year old son points it out and asks to return. I cannot possibly recommmend this resort enough. You will not be disappointed.

The "excellent" level reviews do not lie. Our family of four LOVED staying at the Highmark on our recent ski trip. The rooms are luxurious and clean: marble kitchens and bath, high end appliances, flat screen tv's in every bedroom and the main living area. Even more terrific is the staff, who think of everything, from first night dinner for those arriving late, thoughtful dinner reservations and suggestions, and provision for a fully stocked kitchen on arrival. The Highmark is only a short walk from the gondola and base station, and Highmark even has a ski valet in Gondola Square. They even gave us a (very good quality) complimentary bottle of champagne on New Year's Eve. We'll be back!

The Highmark is across the road from Steamboat plaza - a short 2 minute walk. They have even made that easy by having valet boot and ski gear at one of the shops in the plaza. The accomodation itself was outstanding with everything provided and of a very high standard. Joey greated us on arrival and made us feel very much at home. The hot tub and swimming pool was great after a days skiing. There is a small shop across the road but two supermarkets just a 5 minute drive from the property.

As soon as we arrived I knew we were in for a treat!! Joey greeted us at the door, loaded up our luggage, gave us a tour, and lend us to our room. Our room was just what we were expecting. It was very spacious for our family of four yet very warm and welcoming. A quick little walk to the slopes made it extremely easy for us to enjoy the day of skiing. Conveniently, there is a storage location right at the slopes so you don't have to carry anything back to your room. A shuttle was provided to take us to and from downtown. Reservations were made for us by Joey every day. Always had great recommendations as to where to go for dinner and activities. We never had to wait anywhere we went. One of our best trips ever!! Can't wait to come back next year!!

We had chosen the HighMark based on a recommendation from a friend that had also stayed there and gave it high marks. It is a very nicely maintained property and for the right group of people would be really nice. However, our group was a large group of 20 people gathering for a family reunion. We rented the two largest units and had more than enough bed and bedroom space for everyone. The spacing wasn't the problem. Instead, the problem really had to do with the units not being designed for so many people, even though technically they could sleep 10 per unit. Here were the main problems:

Air conditioning: The air conditioning only works off a thermostat in the main living room, even though each room also has it's own thermostat. The bedroom thermostats work but only for heat. So, if you are sleeping in the living room, you are good. Otherwise, you have to find a fan, and open the windows where possible. In some of the rooms, the window only opens 3 inches. In other rooms, the windows open wide, but there are no screens and you are 6 floors up in the air. If you are staying there in the winter, then this won't be a problem.

Refrigerator/Freezer: We were told after the fact that the refrigerators in the units are really meant to handle a high volume of activity. But with 10 guests per unit, high actvity turns out to be nothing more than normal opening and closing of the door. The refrigerators couldn't keep a temperature under 66 degrees. And the freezer couldn't make any ice. We were also told after the fact that we shouldn't have put all of our food in there right away, that the refrigerator then needed a long time to catch up to the temperature. We ended up putting some food in the employee refrigerator on the first floor. And the staff provided many bags of ice. But still not overly convenient.

Technology - They had a very nice TV, stereo and IPOD system. So nice that you couldn't really figure out how to use any of it. We were safer just getting the TV to work and leaving it this way. If you tried any other the other components, you couldn't get them to work and then couldn't get the standard TV back either.

Overall - This would have been a nice place for a group of 4 couples or less. It was not capable of handling the group that we had and seemed built more for a single owner than for a high volume rental situation.
