What a day we had with Sarah, Dan and their glourious rescue sledding dogs. Just imagine a virgin forest in the Routt National Forest; the perfect location for dogsledding with our family, including children, age 10 and 12. Sarah treated us like family and hugs were given to her as well as herdogs at the end of the day. We were the only family that morning and the children became attached to all of the dogs. At the end of the day I equated this dog sledding adventure equal to to a safari adventure day in the African bush.

Chat with Sarah before you make your selection. She will answer all your questions.

Can't say enough wonderful things about the morning we spent with Snow Buddy Dog Sled Tours in Steamboat. One of our favorite vacation experiences ever. We had a perfect day and the trail through the National Forest was so beautiful. But Sarah and Dan and their wonderful dogs were the ones that really made the morning so special! It was instantly clear that the dogs were so well cared for and loved (which was very important to us) -- we learned so much and really got to be participants in the adventure. We loved hearing about all of the different personalities of the dogs! My kids are pre-teen / early teen and all had a fabulous time. One last thing -- if you prefer to have a smaller, more personal adventure this is definitely the tour for you -- it is small operation and not one that is shuttling tons of people around. Sarah (one of the owners) came and picked us up herself from Steamboat and we were the only family. But this also means you need to book in advance because they do fill up -- we booked a few weeks before our trip.

We had such a great experience on our Snow Buddy tour! We had friends visiting from Florida and this was our favorite activity of the entire vacation. The dogs were so fun to interact with and we learned a lot of really interesting information about the sport. Sarah and Dan were so fun to hang out with and the puppy cuddle cabin has delicious cookies!! You can tell immediately that these dogs are loved and cared for... We drove out from Denver and it was definitely worth the trip! Go visit the Snow Buddies! You will love them!!

Enjoyed this outing from start to finish! Sarah and Dan were wonderful hosts. They taught us how to work with their fantastic and well behaved sled dogs, showing us how to harness them, and guide them with verbal commands while teaching us some of the history of sled dogs. (Cyrus was my fav). The forest trail was breathtaking!! My two boys, 14 and 6 both loved it as did my husband. I would definitely recommend this outing to everyone!!

This review is coming late, but I have to write it.

Three of us visited Steamboat Springs for a New Year's trip - we skiied, we snowshoed, we hiked, we ate way too much... but the highlight of the trip was Snow Buddy dog sled tours.

Yes, there are other dog sled tours you can go on. But they can't compare to what Snow Buddy is offering.
1. Family-owned and run. Sarah, her husband Dan and her brother Ben are some of the coolest people you'll ever meet.
2. You can drive the sled if you want to. (Sarah is a great teacher.) Very few places will let you do that.
3. Many of the dogs are rescues. Sarah, Dan and Ben take in dogs that have been "put out to pasture" by the big dogsled racing kennels and give them a great retirement.
4. Tranquility. The trip is through a national forest, which means you won't be disturbed by a bunch of randoms.
6. Small groups. Yes, that means you have to book a little further in advance, but it's worth it. Small groups makes the tour much more personal.
7. Adorable dogs. Enough said.

The tour is suitable for most ages, Sarah will answer any asinine questions you ask with patience and humor (trust me on that one), and you'll walk away with some great stories. I'll be back.
