After reading reviews, we thought this would be a good thing to do with our hosts in Steamboat. Overall, while the staff did a good job, we weren't overly satisfied with the experience. The ride was only 20 minutes long, going in a circle on the golf course. The food was good, but all in all, the entire package was probably overpriced.

We did the sleigh ride dinner last night and had an absolute blast. I've taken several sleigh rides, but this was definitely the best I've ever had.

First: I'm a horse person, and the horses that are working the sleighs are very obviously Members of the Family. These horses are extremely fit, in terrific condition, well-mannered, and treated very well. They let us say "hi" to the horses before we took off on the ride. There was also a photographer on hand to take professional pictures of any party with the horses. This would be a real plus for a family with horse-crazy kids.

The sleigh ride takes place on a golf course, so what you get is a fabulous cruise of the valley, with magnificent views of the mountains. It's not an in-the-trees/over-the-hills sort of sleigh ride - it's pretty mellow. There are thick wool blankets for every bench in the sleigh.

The dinner was terrific. The clubhouse where the dinner has a sort of rustic elegance. There were acceptable entree choices for everyone in our (picky-eating) party. The foot itself was delicious, and would have been a treat even without the sleigh ride.

The people who operate the event were very warm and very friendly without being intrusive. Everyone was more than happy to answer any question, and see to everyone's comfort and convenience. It was an incredibly welcoming experience.

There's an early sleigh ride for the little kids, and a later sleigh ride for older kids and adults. We had no children in our party, and found this setup to work really well. Just as we arrived and left on our ride, the earlier seating was wrapping up.

Other useful info: Every party had their own table. They take the food orders before you get off the shuttle bus, so your dinner comes out pretty quickly after you get back from the ride, which means that you have plenty of time for a leisurely meal. You pay for everything (ride/dinner) with the dinner bill (comes at the usual restaurant time). When you tip on that bill, you're tipping for everyone - the sleigh drivers, the shuttle drivers, and the waitresses. We found that extremely convenient, as it meant we weren't having to round up small bills all the time.

My family spent Christmas in Steamboat Springs this year. As a Christmas gift and celebration for my husband and 14 year old daughter, I booked the Haymaker Sleigh Ride and Dinner. Shuttle service was provided to the Haymaker golf course where the sleigh ride and dinner take place.

Upon arrival at the gorgeous Haymaker clubhouse, the hosts take your coats and delicious appetizers are immediately available, as well as, hot cocoa & apple cider. A full bar is also available for drinks that you can take with you on the sleigh. The horses that pull the sleigh are enormous and beautiful animals. Warm, heated blankets are provided for guests. The night sky is beautiful on the golf course and you can see a million stars and constellations. Be sure to dress warmly and wear a hat and gloves because it is cold!

Upon your return to the clubhouse, you can warm yourself by the beautiful fireplace and your three course dinner is promptly served. We all had the beet salad and it was delicious. My husband had the filet and it was a beautiful cut of meat, cooked to perfection. My halibut was excellent. The entrees came with fresh green beans on the plate and family style servings of broccoli casserole and garlic mashed potatoes were also included. DELICIOUS!!!! Dessert is also family style with generous portions of molten chocolate lava cake, apple cobbler and french vanilla ice cream.

The staff were excellent and insured that you were well taken care of all night right up to the minute that the shuttle dropped you off.

This is a Christmas memory that we will talk about or years to come!

My wife and I had a great time on the Sleigh ride and dinner. The food was much better than we expected and the service was great. We went to the first seating and were the only couple but we had our own table and sat with the sleigh driver on the ride. The ride is around the golf course and the sun was going down so it was wonderful. The bus picked us up and dropped us off at our condo and the driver was great.
