Steamboat Springs Alpine Slide

Owner description: The Alpine Slide is temporarily closed..... there was a mud slide on the upper part of Howelsen Hill which shifted the lift towers. Until the towers are reattached to the bedrock, it is unsafe to operate the lift. The City is working on fixing the lift - as soon as it is safe to ride, we will re-open. Unfortunately, we do not have a set date as to when that will happen.

We were in Steamboat for a youth soccer tournament with 55 others. We had 13 12 year olds, their siblings, and their parents along with us. We scheduled many fun stops while we were in Steamboat, but my girls (ages 9 & 12) say that the Alpine Slide was their favorite. There is a discount for large groups. It would be great if they sold a slide pass at a set price, because sliding multiple times can really turn out to be expensive, but they don't. There was no wait, but weather did interfere a few days. They won't let you slide if there is a threat of storms, so make sure you plan to go on a day with pretty weather. We were even lucky enough to get up close and personal to some chipmunks at the top of the mountain waiting to slide down. :) Fun for all ages!!!! We would definitely do it again!

We all took a trip down the slide, fun for all ages. My daughters are 5 and 9, the 5 yo just rode w/ a parent. We purchased a combo deal w/ the gondola (purchased at the gondola site) which made our slide tickets a bit cheaper than purchasing individually. Our first wait in line was a bit longer than the second and third time, I'd imagine this would change daily depending on the crowds. The line at the top was never very long. I'd recommend this activity!

Helpful Hint: If buying the gondola/alpine slide combo, the activities do not have to be done on the same day.

Great experience all together: enjoyable ride on the ski lift with beautiful views of the mountains and fun ride down the slides. A bit pricey but was able to use coupons. Would recommend it.

It was ok. But a long wait in line to go up the lift. Maybe it was just the day. The line at the top went fast, but we bought the extra tickets in a package along with the gondala, and we ended p selling them as we were not going to wait in line again for another hour to go again.
