“Don't stay with Mountain Resorts (The Ranch) properties!”
Reviewed 6 January 2010

We've been going to Steamboat for years--great little town, usually good snow (but check ahead of time--some years are better than others)--this year we thought we would treat our family to a condo at The Ranch over the New Year's holiday--it really wasn't that busy. The reservations, the check-in, the condos (ridiculously over-priced for a bunch of twin/bunk beds for adults!!), non-working appliances, unclean dishes, inept check-out--all were just awful at this facility. I spoke to the manager who barely summoned up "I'm sorry" but we're OUT OF THERE! They got 3-4 inches while we were there but it's been a dry year---they should try to make up for lack of snow with good customer service; don't waste your time with this property company.

Dear Ranch Guest,

Thank you for the candid comments. We are sorry that the accommodations did not meet your expectations. I did want to let you know that since your stay in 2010, The Ranch has been significantly updated and improved and has a new GM. Did you know that you can now go online and view and select the exact condominium for your vacation? Check out our new look at mtn-resorts.com

The Ranch is perfect. This is my 4th trip there. It is not ski in ski out, but has direct on mountain views. without paying on mountain pricing. They have a private shuttle and ski storage with an on mountain ski store so there is no carrying of skis as you are driven to and from the ski store. NO car is necessary as they shuttle you to anyplace in town, for groceries, restaurants etc. The condos are spacious with a terrifc living room, full kitchen and dining room. There is at least a bathroom for every bedroom (1-4) and most are interior bathrooms. Each unit has its own washing machine and dryer. They pick up the trash and change towels daily and change the bed linens in mid week.

We were fortunate enough to get to go to The Ranch at Steamboat in Steamboat Springs CO for a long July 4th weekend and getaway. We had heard The Ranch was very nice and the best for families and being a family of 5 (3 boys 8,11 & 13 - with a friend) now at 6 we needed family friendly but comfort and an easy vacation. The pool, tennis courts and hot tubs were great. Big pool, facility with saunas and a big hot tub. The boys played for hours with ours and another family, Bouncing from pool to tennis.

The service from the management company - Mountain Resorts who we have used before- this time was a step up, not down as seen recently in cost cutting measures at other places. The one day as we were wanting to get tennis rackets & balls to get everyone out, they offered and delivered the rackets and balls to us at our condo in 5 - 10 minutes and with a smile. They did not need to do this and we offered to come and get them but they insisted. This was a seemingly small but I thought great attitude. They also had coupon books for town activities to help stretch the budget. These came in handy going to the town Hot tub and pools one day.

The 3 bedroom condo was spacious good beds and a surprise loft not advertised. Of special note was how well equipped the condo was with kitchen utensils. This is sometimes one of our pet peeves as we like to cook meals in a good bit of the time. TV's in most rooms made for happy kids as well and games.

I sure am looking back to my next trip to the Ranch as is our entire family. Not always easy to get the unanimous decision from our group, but they did on this trip.

This was our third time staying at the Ranch, and we love it! It is a quiet and secluded, away from the busy village near the ski gondola...just the way we like it. The accomodations are comfortable and roomy. It really is a gem.

I was not expecting much as some of the reviews I saw were not good. Our condo was decent although you could tell it was dated. Our bed was comfortable but the bath needed some maintenance. The shuttle was key. No worries on who was going to drive into town or to the slopes. If your are looking for "pretty and updated". this is probably not the place for you. If you looking for value, this would be something to consider.

This was my second trip to Steamboat. My first trip was fantastic staying in a ski-in ski-out condo near the lifts. I wish I could say the same about the Ranch. Our room was poorly maintained and resembled a "Motel 6". The headboard on the bed was totally loose and squeaked whenever you rolled over. The furnishings in the condo looked like something out of a rummage sale. The very worst part about staying at the Ranch is location. Expect to wait 10 minutes for a shuttle to the slopes (the slopes aren't even remotely close to the Ranch) Steamboat is a fantastic skiiers mountain and is definitely one of the best in Colorado. If you really want a great trip , find one of the many condos near the lifts even if you pay a little more. It's worth it.

I was a bit leery of booking a place that seemed pretty far from the slopes on all of the maps. As it turned out, The Ranch was incredibly convenient. Their shuttle run continuously through the day and readily on call at night.

The staff was very friendly and the facility was clean, well decorated, well maintained and very family friendly. Their heated pool and hot tub sits adjacent to a very good work out facilitiy and his and her saunas - a great way to unwind after a long day skiing.

I booked a three bedroom with a balcony and garage for my family and my extended family. I was surprised at the posh level of furnishings - especially given that we saved over a $1000 for the week by not staying right on the mountain.

I highly recommend the facility.
