“Great hotel with good prices”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

I have stayed here since it was built at least 15 years ago. This gem is simple, don't expect luxury furniture but all else is top notch. Even the beds are high quality, firm mattresses. The location is an easy 4 minute drive to the resort. Owner is onsite often and really maintains this place. I could not believe I saw him shoveling snow at 6 am today in the walkways. I would highly recommend this property. Only minor complaint is walls seem to reverberate sound but all of my experiences at other hotels all have the same issue unless you are In a high rise with steel.

The Steamboat Mountain Lodge was a great find over the New Year's Holiday! Breakfast was delicious (waffles + a variety of continental items), service was great from a very friendly staff, ski parking with shuttle service was only a 2 minute drive, and the outdoor hot tub was a great way to relax after a day on the slopes! It was great to stay in a smaller yet up to date hotel. It never seemed crowded, and we were very comfortable!

Nice ambience.very comfortable mattress. Friendly staff. Slightly tricky to find as behind another hotel. Nice hot tub. Good breakfast, but would have preferred more protein options. Great place for family and near shuttle parking

Although a little hard to find, this is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are well supplied and comfortable. The breakfast could use a bit more fruit or protein, but coffee was great! very friendly staff. Will consider staying here again.

The motel was hard to find in the daytime, I can just imagine at night. One complaint is breakfast; the waffles combined with some type of "whipped spread" tasted bitter. Since my stay was off season, the selection was not what others have said. Another concern was the wifi; I noticed an email was taking longer than expected to open. I did a speed test and I was getting about 0.5 Mgb bandwidth. I asked the front desk clerk about it, she said "Yes I know" and told me that "sometimes it's faster over by the fireplace".

Stayed here just a night while passing through. It is nice hotel with fridge and very nice breakfast in the morning. It's sister property the hotel is a bit closer to the hiway but the lodge is set back. Nice and quiet, the reception staff was very nice and the hotel was clean. Definitely adequate for a night or two in the area especially for the budget minded. Appears it has been updated and appreciated the hospitality and comfy bed. A bit down the road from downtown steamboat but that was fine for us the short 5 minute drive didn't hurt and it was a bit more quiet.

Room Tip: Room 101 is king bed right by ice machine but it was it too musy and loud.

I tried to cancel my reservation (>24 hrs) with this hotel due to the 'Biblical' floods in the entire Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park area. The hotel manager was totally unsympathetic and claimed there were still some roads open to the hotel and charged me the full cost of the reservation. I refused to put my family in harms way to reach this hotel since the President had declared the area a national disaster and additional rain was forecast. Note that Travelocity was of no help in securing a refund.
