Scandi Lodge is perfect for families, baseball teams, and for everyone! Its location is in the woods on the side of Mt. Werner with AWESOME views. It is a bit old on the outside but the units are very well updated. I will deffinately book this condo again for next year. It just has everything that we asked for and more. I was very pleased with everything that management could do for us they did a very good job and were very speedy. Some people may think its horrible but its not, i dont know what they are talking about and no one complained about anything being wrong with the units or nothing! We are booking next year when we come up for baseball tournaments. ITS AWESOME!

This was our third and last time staying at the Scandinavian Lodge. The furniture was old and worn out, the pool was cold the steps to the hot tub were always icey and very treacherous. The "on site" manager was never there. As from the on call shuttle, sometimes it would show up sometimes it wouldn't, it depended on who answered the phone at Pioneer Ridge Management. This used to be a nice place it is too bad they have let it go.

After reading about all the updates made to this hotel, i was excited for our vacation. Once we were picked up at the airport by a shuttle service we began the drive to the lodge. We were on a long windy road when our driver said, "I hope you like being secluded." That was not comforting at all, since we were told that the lodge was located in the town.

We arrived to find out that not only could we not get into our rooms because there was no front desk, but we had to drive all the way back into town to the office to check in and get the key. The staff were not the friendliest either. Then we drove all the way back up the neverending road to the lodge. As we were unloading our bags we realized that because there wasn't a front desk, no one was going to help us bring our bags to the room. After lugging our bags to the room, we opened the door to what looked like a mini dorm room that hadn't been updated since the 50s. The stench of lemon pine sol permeated the room. There was only 1 dirty queen size bed. Also, there was a bad draft because the sliding door didn't shut all the way. This room was absolutely disgusting and uncomfortable.

We immediately called our travel agents to see if there was something we could do. They called the manager to have him show us a more "updated" room. This room was just as gross, and instead of smelling pine sol, it stunk of cigarettes.

Eventually we decided we couldn't stay here any longer, it was just too depressing. Our travel agent booked us at a much nicer condominium and our stay in steamboat was amazing. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. For the price you're paying, you're better off somewhere else.

I had a very great time in Steamboat. The Scandinavian was OK...

First, as for Ski In-- Ski Out. Well, yeah, you can ski out, down a nnarrow trail, across someones driveway, between two houses, and down to the green trail Right-O-Way (I think). That will take you down to Christie II lift. That green gets pretty flat on the end, so get as much speed as possible so you wont have to pole too much. Christy II had no lift lines at all while we were there. From there, you get up to mid mountain, then you get ski down to Thunderhead, then get up to the top of the Gondola, and have better access to the higher terrain. Ski In is a different story. Walking uphill in ski boots is NOT fun. I always grabbed the shuttle for a ride back. You can get the shuttle from either the Transit Center (bottom of the Gondola) or from the Thunderhead lift. You can also WALK from the Thunderhead lift back to the Scandinavian (at least it is DOWN hill... but on a road, and not skiable) So yes, technically this is Ski in--Ski Out but if you want true ski in ski out, this really does not cut it.

I had the 1 Bedroom/1 Bathroom (ROOM 208) with a buddy of mine. He slept on the pull out couchbed, which was very uncomfortable. I slept in the bed, which was not too bad at all.

The kitchen was equipped with all the basic stuff. The condo is very small. The pull out bed took up the whole living room. The place was clean, and it was serviced daily. My unit seamed to have been remodeled in the last few years.

There is storage in the hallway for ski's and stuff.

The Scandi met my needs. Nothing fancy, but for $850 for 6 nights with a kitchen and almost ski-in/ski out, (ski in is the only problem for me) the place is not bad.

TRANSIT-- The transit stinks. The place is not on the public shuttle route, but the rental agency runs a private shuttle. It only runs once every 30 minutes though, so you will see all the other shuttles for other lodges several times before you see the one to pick you up. Also, it does not run from 10:40AM to 1PM, except on-call, so you have to carry you cell phone with you if you want it to pick you up to go back to the lodge for Lunch or something (which I like to do... make a frozen pizza and rest for an hour before hitting the slopes again)

Overall though, the Scandi is OK... not a breathtaking beautiful place, but a comfortable place to sleep.

The Scandinavian in Steamboat was the perfect solution for our family. We were looking for something cost effective, but with 2 bedrooms, kitchenette, pool and hot tub, which can be pricey in Steamboat.
You must check in and get keys at the management company two miles away. The check-in person "Goose" (as in Top Gun) was delightful, the winding road up to the condo a bit treacherous on icy evenings, but the rooms were clean and cleaned daily, the across-valley views from both the living room and master bedroom breathtaking, even from a lower floor. The pool and hot-tub are very well maintained. The kitchenette had every appliance that we needed, and then some.
The ski-out is a bit winding, even exhilarating, but we skiied it nonetheless, and it is a most wonderful early morning run down to the Gondola. Walk-in along a little-used roadway comes right off the Thunderhead Express.
For the price the Scandinavian is a terrific value and we certainly hope to return.

We found Steamboat to be great - great snow and mountain, we were there the week of Christmas and it was not crowded at all (although we were told it was one of the busiest weeks of the year). We did ski the top half of the mountain, so the bunny slopes might have been more crowded. I do know the base was crowded at the end of the day.

The town was very nice with great places to eat. If you like simple, Johnny Rockets was a great diner.

Now on to the Scandinavian. The location is out of the way, which was very quiet. If you like that (we do), then great. The problem with that is getting anywhere. The management has arranged a very convenient shuttle that was also flexible if you needed something off the schedule. The condo on the other hand was beat up. Our condo was very small (the pull out couch took up nearly the entire living room and the bedroom (the other room) was just big enough for the queen bed. The bathroom was tiny. It did have a deck that overlooked the pool and the mountain that was nice. The kitchenette was quite adequate with a full refridge. The furniture was worn but clean. The dinnerware was a mix and match of many different sets.

The pool/hot tub was superb, we loved it everyday. Very warm.

The Ski-out was a joke. Advertised as a ski-out, but this was through peoples yards and at times very steep, and was icy (nothing else was). We walked the trail. The walk-in was also not advertised correctly. It was supposed to be .1 mile away, but unless I walked very slowly in boots, it is more than that. It took us 10 minutes or more to walk it. Not that far, but not what was advertised.

Lastly, the walls were very thin. Several people brought dogs that barked and we heard it all. Also heard TV and conversations. Fortunately no heavy party folks, so it was quiet at a reasonable time.

On the whole, if you are looking for an out of the way, mostly quiet place that is small, average, and cheap, you have found it. If you are looking for higher quality, head down the mountain.
