“Very nice stay”
Reviewed 29 January 2012

We decided it was time to get away from it all and enjoy a little fun in the snow. So, we threw a dart at the map (not really!) and decided upon Steamboat Springs, CO. We are Wyndham timeshare owners and decided to give the Wyndham Village a shot. We splurged a bit and opted for a Penthouse and boy was it worth it. Very clean and spacious unit. Fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, 2 full bathrooms and a washer and dryer. One thing that bothered me when we first walked in was the lighting...or the lack there of. Just a design flaw, but not enough to kill the trip. We got used to it. Next... I wanted a two bedroom with a queen bed in the second room because we were traveling with another couple. After I discovered that we had two queens, the front desk quickly came to the rescue and converted the beds for us. It was a quick fix, but I would have prefered a room change because our guests later told us that they kept falling into the "crack" in the bed. Not cool. I wish they would have told me this before the trip was over... but I digress!

We were there at the beginning of the ski season (first week of December) so the parking garage was a very welcome amenity. No snow scraping or frozen windshield wipers. The location was very convenient to downtown. There is a shuttle service on site and public transportation is available as well -but I must say, that I am glad that we rented a vehicle.

One thing to note... If you decide to go, don't fall into the same trap that we did. Yahoo Maps says that Steamboat Springs is about a 2.75 hour drive from Denver. Not true! More like 4 because of speed limits and highway grades going through the mountains. The flight may have been cheaper at Denver International, but flying into Hayden would have saved us some valuable vacation time. Hindsight....

All in all, this was a great place to stay with very friendly service. By the way...not sure where or when those "Professional" pictures were taken, but they look nothing like where I stayed. The pictures taken by actual visitors are more accurate.

We; my wife my two boys 5 and 8 and I, just spent the weekend here. We did book it as part of my timeshare, with Diamond Resorts, so i'm unable to give a report to the "value". We got the two bedroom unit which was plenty big for the four of us. It had a shared bathroom and a private one on the master. The beds were very comfortable but the pillows were a little thin. There was a full kitchen, nice living room w/ fireplace and a balcony. There are flat screen TV's in the two bedrooms and the livingroom w/ DVD players too (we didn't have much time to watch tv so not sure if they were blueray) Free Internet access in our building was not available but you could pay like $5/day, other buildings might be different. Since we were only there for the weekend we didn't get to try the pool/hot tub or workout room. They have underground parking too.
There is a shuttle the leaves at 8am every 20minutes for the mountain, less the 5 minutes away.
This is a TimeShare resort so you will be asked to watch a presentation in exchange for free stuff. As a time share owner i don't mind being asked this and sometimes the freebies are worth it. We didn't do the presentation this trip.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't face the street the snow plows are loud

If you want to ski/snowboard, and you have a timeshare, trade it for this and go go go. It's fabulous. You will have an awesome time. The room is SO nice and spacious and the skiing is fantastic. The little shuttle guy comes around and pick you up right in front of the hotel, you can park your car in the underground parking so it's not freezing every morning, you can rent your ski's at sport's authority right beside the resort (walking distance) and you can leave your skis at the slope so you dont' have to carry them back and forth. What more can you ask for?? Awesome trip and setup. LOVE the fireplace in the room and outdoor hot tub. want to go back!!!!!!!

Top marks go to the Manager of The Village at Steamboat, Colorado for his patience, persistence and professionalism in ensureing we, his guests, would be happy with our accommodation and enjoy our stay at this first-class resort. We were a little dismayed with the sleeping arrangements as my husband has a back problem, but even though the resort was full, the Manager, Mr. Brian O'Neill, went to considerable trouble to relocate us and ensure we were happy with the arrangements. This gentleman set a benchmark other resorts should aspire to! We are hooked on Wyndham and will make sure others know this too. Our thanks go also, to Carlos, a brilliant, diplomatic and professional front desk member of staff more than worthy of a mention. Thank you Carlos & Brian.

Room Tip: If possible, avoid the main road area, as the traffic, especially the HOG's are very noisy.

We stayed here on the last night of our stay in Steamboat. The hotel was extremely busy when we arrived, but the hotel staff was friendly and gave us a key to get into the pool area and a stack of towels for us and my brothers family (who were not staying at the hotel). Nice pool area, room was clean and spacious. They also had a nice kitchen in the room. The only downside is that in Bldg 1 they don't offer wi-fi and ethernet access was an extra charge (not sure if ethernet was avail in that bldg). If staying for business, I'd recommend one of the newer buildings. No A/C, but they did have fans that cooled off the room quickly with the patio & bedroom windows open. Location is good - 5 mins from downtown and close to ski hills.

The rooms were nice - not exactly what I was expecting from Wyndham - but nice, none the less. The location was excellent for skiing or using the Yampa River trail. The view was beautiful with the mountain in the background. The highway noise was a little loud but not bad. The fitness center was great, and we loved the parking under the building.

Most essentials are provided, like laundry soap, dishwasher soap, towels, paper towels, and even some spices, but unless you're a Wyndham owner, bring your own shampoo. For some reason, they decided shampoo is reserved for Wyndham owners only...must be some nice shampoo! The lack of free internet (other than using their computers in the business center) was annoying, too.

Overall, it was a very nice, relaxing stay that I'd recommend.
