“Great place for walk into the past.”
Reviewed 26 January 2013

For a small museum in a small town, you will be pleasantly surprised how well they have organized the exhibits. Many of the buildings are actual buidings from the area that have been moved to become one of the exhibits. Some of my favorites are the one room school house and the old barn.

“Haxtun Colorado's Barber Shop”
Reviewed 9 December 2012

If you lived in Haxtun Colorado...you don't have far to go to see the Original Barber shop....The Oak Bar behind the barber chairs was the original one inside the shop at one time, located in Haxtun that's now a Seamstress shop....I remember the day Mr. Frank showed up to measure the building for a remake in the Overland Trail Museum.....Oh how I wish I had that beautiful bar in the shop now.....If those walls could talk.....oh the stories they could tell!

“Excellent museum! Worth a visit!!”
Reviewed 1 November 2012

This is a really fine museum stocked well with artifacts from the pioneers of the west. They have some exceptional displays to view and everything is well done. The old service station was my favorite along with the railroad equipment.

You can easily spend a full day here. We traveled to Sterling especially to view the museum and didn't have enough time so will be returning in the future.

There is just so much to see here that has been placed on display for you that you'll be amazed.

“Step back in Time”
Reviewed 25 July 2012

Took a class of 4th and 5th graders to this museum. The tee pee was fun since the kids were able to sit inside and have knowledge told to them. This is very educational for all ages and the trail ride was fun and bumpy at the same time.

“Interesting historical village.”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

There is a lot to see here. The main building has a huge collection of fossils, arrowheads, and many antiques from the area. Then there is the village with a school, church, barbershop, general store, and several other buildings. There is also a barn with farming antiques. Nice place to imagine what life was like so many years ago.
