I've dined here a few times over the past few years, as I love to come up to Winter Park for the skiing. Heck's keeps getting better and better with each visit. They have a new chef at Devil's Thumb and he has completely transformed the food with a great menu serving mostly local, organic food. Everything is made from scratch, including the bread and hamburger buns. So far my favorite things on the menu are the veggie lasagna (amazing) and the scallop & rock shrimp salad (best salad ever). For dessert, I can't resist the ice cream sandwich. They change up the flavors, but in December it was a ginger bread cookie with egg nog icecream. Unreal.
The atmosphere has always been amazing, as there's a huge three sided fireplace in the center of the room and some cozy couches and chairs that are super welcoming. The views of the Continental Divide from the huge windows is amazing. The deck off the back of the restaurant must be amazing in the summer.
The service is definitely worth mentioning. Most recently my server's name was Gary and he was wonderful. Very attentive, pleasant, and genuine, which is such a nice surprise in Grand County!
I would highly recommend this restaurant- by far one of the best in the area.
