The dining room is beautiful. A remake of Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood. Atmosphere makes for a lovely dining experience. The food was excellent, especially the sirloin steak and pork. The only downside was the amateur staff that needs far more training in order to match the level of decor and food. We never got bread even after asking for second time. We had to wait 5 minutes after twice asking for silverware with entree since silver wasn't replenished. All staff was friendly just not trained in service procedures.

Delicious meal in a unique, rustic setting. Service was outstanding. Wednesdays offer half price night for selected wines. The wagyu beef was exquisite, and the trout was delicious.

Attentive staff. Quick service. Amazing breakfast selections. Everything was delicious. After a snowshoe adventure you can't beat a cocktail by the outdoor fire pit while enjoying the views of the valley and mountain peaks beyond.

So after our experience in january, we decided to try again. This time it was almost laughable. We arrived on a "not ver busy" monday evening. Not a holiday, around 6 pm after skiing again. Even though there appeared to be several empty tables, we were once again told there were no tables and that they were booked all evening. We were told we could go to the bar. On our way to the bar, a waiter was cleaning a table and we asked if we could sit down. He said of course we could. We sat down. Another couple who was staying at devils thumb walked by who also was mystified by the numerous empty tables, having been turned away. We invited them to sit with us, joking that if they are so overbooked we might need to leave. Needless to say we ate and drank until 9 and oyr table remained unclaimed along with all thise around us. What gives? The waiter was great, but host staff seems to have a need to keep people out! The waiters service was great but since we were actually denied a table by host staff i am going to check the terrible box below. Very very strange.

We spent 5 days and 4 nights at DTR the first week of Feb, 2014. While we stayed in one of the cabins (beautiful), we went to Happy Hour and lunch at Heck's several times. Lunch after skiing was always a great experience. The wait staff were friendly and professional. We were attended to but not cloyingly, and the food was delicious. Happy Hour was crowded but the noise level allowed us to have table conversations. We tried every thing on the HH menu and every item was a hit! We never had to wait more than than a few minutes for water or drink refills, even though the place was packed. We didn't eat dinner there as we were staying in the cabins, but if dinner was anything like the lunch or HH experience we had, I wouldn't hesitate.
