“Great location and lodge”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

Perfect location in town on a beautiful creek. Very spacious loft condo, very comfortable for family of four. Aspen St. Inn handles check-in, check-out and they are friendly and helpful. Two balconies overlooking rushing stream and bridge, great views of mountains. Decent breakfast in commons room. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your kind review of the Manitou lodge. From your description, you were in either room 5, 6, or 7. Those rooms have beds in the loft with two balconies facing east towards the box canyon.

Comfortable room in a great location next to river and on hike/bike trail. Easy walk to shops and restaurants and one block from great hiking trails. Loved the nicely served breakfast with opportunity to get to know fellow guests. Also great to grab a cup of coffee and head down the trail to the lovely town park and beaver ponds just blocks away. Our family of four was quite comfortable in room 7. Will definitely stay here again.

Telluride was just a one night stop on our 8-day vacation so it was fortunate that we chose the sweetest place to stay; tucked under trees next to the river which is really a rolling mountain stream. We were in room #1 at the lodge - the first room in the door after we walked over the lovely bridge. It was so easy to get here with our bags after parking at the end of Fir Street. And the Gondola is about a two minute walk! The room, while compact, was perfect! Great Mission oak furnishings, the most comfortable bed, solid wi-fi service, large TV, refrigerator tucked into the cabinet and great bathroom with Tarocco orange extract toiletries (I've got to buy some of this stuff!) This room doesn't have its own private deck or balcony but it has great, large windows that open up like french doors. Loved the sound of the water right outside our window! Checked out the kitchen, deck and hot tub - would've been great if we'd had more time to use them. There was coffee on in the kitchen and a great sofa to sit for a moment to enjoy it. We did help ourselves to the great choice of breakfast items just before we pulled out of town. I notice that, since our mid-July 2013 visit, Bruce and Heather have rearranged furniture to make a little more open space in this room. By the way, the White's couldn't have been more wonderful... Bruce responded quickly to my Facebook inquiry which I followed up by calling Heather back in mid-June. We met each of them when we got there... Bruce as we checked in at Aspen Street and Heather was right there at the Manitou as we entered for our stay - lovely people and very accommodating. If we return to Telluride, we'll be sure to stay here again! Oh, PS ... we got into town at noon and our room was ready so it really was perfect for our short stay... we were able to get settled in and head out for a hike by 1 PM, thank you Bruce and Heather! Nothing but perfect and peaceful!

Room Tip: Probably every room in this sweet place is nice!

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay in Telluride at the Manitou Lodge. Yes, Heather has rearranged the furniture in room #1 since you stayed. One of our longtime repeat guests gave the Lodge a new mirror for room #1, which precipitated moving some of the furniture. Please come see us again whenever you can.

Our famy of five has stayed here several times (usually in room 7). We love the location near rivet and steps to trail to Bear Creek or gondola. During our last visit, we stayed in room 6 for one night before moving to larger room 7. Pedro was very helpful to us in getting us moved from one room to the next. Common room and patio are very nice. You can pick up sandwiched or salads from the grocery up the street and enjoy eating on the patio during the warmer months whe listening to the river. Our kids so enjoyed getting tubes from Ace Hardware ($22 inflated) and riding down the rivet. Overall, great value and location at the Manatou Lodge!

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Manitou Lodge. We are glad your move from room 6 to 7 was relatively easy. The San Miguel River next to the Lodge is perfect right now for tubing, thanks to plentiful July rain.

We stayed 5 nights mid March 13. With Telluride being such an expensive town and other accoms rather pricey we were very glad to have booked the Manitou. It is a little hidden gem reached by crossing a little wooden bridge right at the side of the San Miguel River. You receive a free parking pass when checking in and once we had unloaded the car it remained parked up for our whole stay. Only a two minute walk from the free gondola service up to the Mountain Village and one block from restaurants, bars and Main St, it is an ideal location.
With a fully functional communal kitchen and lounge its great to make a drink when you come back from skiing or chill in the hot tub. Breakfast was sufficient. No hot option but cereals, bagels, coffee, juice, fruit, pastries etc, its a great start to the day. Bruce, Heather,& Pedro your lodge hosts are always on hand at breakfast time to help and assist with anything and offer advise if needed. Staying less than 6 days does not get your room cleaned, however fresh towels, toiletries etc will be replenished in the morning if needed.
We were allocated room 2 ( only two of us), ground floor, spacious, well equipped ( no safe ), warm and cozy. Plenty of plug sockets, and storage, hairdryer, ,bathrobes, iron/board etc. The bathroom is small, only room for one at a time but adequate for our needs and a great shower. Each room has its own lockable ski locker outside ( if in winter) and we had great views of the peaks of this impressive box canyon setting of |Telluride. Step straight onto the pretty river path and walk either way from the Manitou
I would definitely stay here again as it was just what we wanted and much more personal than condos and other large 4/5 star hotels up the mountain.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front face the peaks, some with a small balcony.

I was reluctant to write a review until I read the ones already here and realized that the Manitou is no secret. It is all about expectations, and here is why I like this place and stay here a lot to ski, fish, hike, and generally relax and enjoy the outdoors. By way of context, now retired, I own and manage some rental properties of my own and have traveled the world, staying in everything from 5 stars to tents. I can afford any part of that spectrum but prefer casual and friendly. In my review I am talking about the B&B rooms, not the adjacent condos.

The past reviews are factually accurate and highlight why I like the Manitou. You get to it by walking across the prettiest wooden bridge on town (ok, the only one) into the Manitou. A great start. It is in the heart of the town, with everything you want within a few blocks (grocery store, wine and spirits store, the gondola, spas, burger places, sandwich and pie places, and white linen ones too). It is right on - like a few feet away - the river that runs through town and backs onto a slope of trees. You can even fish the river in winter by taking ten steps. So the physical plant is terrific.

The "innkeepers" (?), Bruce, Heather and Pedro, are incredibly friendly, always available (sorry guys) and helpful, and great at what they do. That makes a huge difference to me. The overall managers and owners of the complex the Manitou is in are attentive as well. That's the people side.

The prices are a great value in this extremely pricey town. Breakfast is lots of breads and fruits and cereals and hard-boiled eggs, all tasty. It is not the classic full-scale event that many B&Bs offer (maybe they'll change the name to solve this potential misconception) but that is more than I need anyway. There is no cook but the nearby restaurants take care of the rest. And you can cook on the well-stocked small kitchen if you want to. The outdoors, with-a-skylight-letting-the-snow-or-sunlight-in, old wooden, large hot tub facing the river is huge asset. As the pictures show, the rooms are mid-sized, and rustically decorated, and they are thoughtfully stocked, with strong wifi, humidifiers for the winter, fridges, robes, etc. You can open the windows to listen to the river in the summer while you sleep if you are near enough.

The property is well-maintained and the complex owners tell our group they plan continued improvements in the coming year. The other guests have always been low key and pleasant, and a nice mix of backgrounds from around the country and world. I have never been disturbed by noise. It has a chill vibe all around.

We have never had a problem finding parking, although I can guess that during a festival it could be sporty. We just have to move the car on Wednesdays for the usual trash and cleaning. It is at the end of a street, but Telluride has one main street and Fir Street is a right hand turn off of it and you go four blocks down and you are there. Not complex.

Quiet, low-key, friendly, surrounded by the river and trees, and run by really nice people in the heart of Telluride, that's the Manitou. If that appeals to you, just please don't come when I want to.

Room Tip: No way am I going so far as to tell people my favorite rooms. Not happening. But have never had a...

We enjoyed our stay. The lodge has a great atmosphere and is well maintained. The location is great, in town but away from the noise. Beautiful surroundings. Breakfast was good as well. The rooms we saw had a lofty set up, which could work well for a family
