First off, they have the best vehicles of any off road company in Telluride. Others use wide Chevy trucks. Telluride Offroad Adventures have modified Swiss Army trucks that are built for travel through the Swiss Alps, which are very similar to the mountains in Telluride/Ourray. Our driver/guide, Herb, has lived in town most of his life and is very knowledgable about the area and its history. He had entertaining stories and is very safe. His dog, Rocky, was riding up front and was so funny as he rolled around in the snow. We went to Imogene Pass...great views at 13,100 ft up and even played in snow in mid-July while the temperature in town was around 80*.
Amazing views, incredible history of the mining town and what is left of Tomboy. Kids, ages 8 and 12 loved it as much as the adults. You can sit or stand up and hold on to the roll bars for a better view. We had a blast and it is one of those trips that you'll never forget. Highly recommended! You're in good hands with Herb, as he is also a professional skier.

The exciting, fun 4 hour 4 wheel drive tour was a blast. Our driver/historian Dan provided an enjoyable look back to the history of Telluride mining and the characters who made that history.
Being able to stand and enjoy the scenery added a fun dimention to the ruff ride. We would give the tour 10 stars. Dan was great, ask for him

We had the pleasure of having a 1/2 day (4 hour) tour with Herb. Every aspect of the tour was superb. We felt very comfortable and safe in the Swiss Army vehicle, originally designed to transport troops in the mountains of Europe. Herb is professional, polite, and knowledgeable about the history and terrain of the Telluride area. He was very willing to take pictures of us at the numerous stops along the way. Herb took plenty of time to answer all the questions we had. We would highly recommend this tour--you will enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn the history of the area. You will not be disappointed! I had the pleasure of going on an Off-road Adventures tour. The driver was great and his knowledge of Telluride history, as well as history of the surrounding area, was very impressive. Additionally, the drivers knowledge of the area's geology was impressive. The driver was extremely professional and very polite. The co-pilot Rocky was very pleasant and fun. If you want to get a thorough and safe tour I highly recommend Telluride Off-road Adventures.

On the advice of previous TA Reviewers, we booked the 1/2 day Imogene Pass Tour. Before we even started, I was having a tough time finding a parking spot in town. Our guide loaded up the rest of our party and had me follow him to the free parking lot on the edge of town to park my car.

We had a very informative and casual trip up to Imogene, stopping at least a 1/2 dozen times to get out, talk about the area and take photos. I'm writing this review months after I should've and for the life of me can't remember our guide's name; which I really regret.. We learned so much about the history of Telluride and the mining industry. Towards the end of our tour, he called the office to see if we had time to go over to Bridal Veil Falls. We drove in the Pingauzer to the base of the Falls and took more pictures. This was our favorite outing during our stay in Telluride and I'd definitely book another tour with them.
