First off, they have the best vehicles of any off road company in Telluride. Others use wide Chevy trucks. Telluride Offroad Adventures have modified Swiss Army trucks that are built for travel through the Swiss Alps, which are very similar to the mountains in Telluride/Ourray. Our driver/guide, Herb, has lived in town most of his life and is very knowledgable about the area and its history. He had entertaining stories and is very safe. His dog, Rocky, was riding up front and was so funny as he rolled around in the snow. We went to Imogene Pass...great views at 13,100 ft up and even played in snow in mid-July while the temperature in town was around 80*.
Amazing views, incredible history of the mining town and what is left of Tomboy. Kids, ages 8 and 12 loved it as much as the adults. You can sit or stand up and hold on to the roll bars for a better view. We had a blast and it is one of those trips that you'll never forget. Highly recommended! You're in good hands with Herb, as he is also a professional skier.
