“High Price, Super bad Service !!”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

We had stayed at the Nirvana hotel several years ago and received a great deal, with equally great service. Being a boutique hotel, it WAS a great improvement over the run of the mill hotels, but that has changed....

We came to the Nirvana quite suddenly after having had a security breach at another "boutique hotel' where we were staying. We requested a room for 2 weeks and, because we were staying for an extended period of time, we asked for a discount. The manager and her assistant declined to give us any consideration for our urgent situation. The room rate was fixed and was to be paid in full upon check-in with NO REFUNDS what so ever...even for emergencies. We should have left right then and there as things went downhill within the next few days.

First of all, inadequate security became an issue. After checking in the room, we found that the balcony doors do not lock properly and could be opened easily. There are safes in the room but they may not accommodate laptops. The balcony doors had to be secured with strategically
placed rocks to jam the doors shut. Laptops had to be locked in our suitcases.

Secondly, the hotel provides towels for guests to use for their small pool, but everyone takes them to the beach after signing for them. The towels are older, with frayed edges, certainly not something that would be used in the guest rooms. We took four towels as to adequately cover the lounges at the beach. When we returned from the beach, we were chastised by the day staff at the front desk for taking more towels than we were allowed...1 towel per person two towels per room max.

My friend felt that there was no logic to the "boutique" hotel's two towel policy and felt that he should discuss his request for 2 towel per guest. After listening to him for 20 seconds, she blew him off, claiming not to understand english, and immediately called the manager to the front desk. The manager listened to my friend and then reiterated the hotel policy of 2 towels per room. He again asked her to listen to his explanation, she then stated that they didn't have enough towels for all the guests to use at the beach. He stated that this was a beachside "boutique" hotel and maybe they should purchase some more towels to adequately fill the needs of the guests.. She then stated that the laundry wasn't able to pick up, launder, and return enough towels within a day.. The excuses kept coming..with no resolution of the issue..... The manager and the front desk assistant, then, made sure that an insufficient number of beach towels were left out each morning. I don't think the staff should get into an heated open ended discussion over a simple request of 1 additional towel for the beach lounge bed. We were required to "ask" for 2 towels every morning for 12 days.

Things became extremely impersonal from that moment on. We were never acknowledged and heavily ignored by any day staff members other than the bellboy. No one would even look at us for the remaining time there. We also noticed that the day time staff do not really communicate with any of the hotel guests. And remember "NO REFUNDS" "NO EXCEPTIONS". The vacation became increasingly uncomfortable each day when we had to give the key to the front desk woman.. she would grab it and not utter a word. The overall stay at this hotel was very unpleasant. A personal vendetta from the day staff over two frayed, old towels that should have been tossed in the trash.

A high priced "boutique" hotel should provide personal, individual, and attentive service to its guests. If it cannot or will not, it should remove the "boutique" name. Staff at a "boutique" hotel should understand what the word implies. They should especially understand that their paying guests deserve more individual consideration and behave in a business like manner, regardless of what their personal feelings are.

I do not recommend this hotel simply because of the high price (we paid about US$93 per night) with lack of service. Breakfast was inadequate, coffee terrible, internet is inconsistent, and worst of all very unfriendly staff. The day staff is uneducated, spoke broken english that was very difficult to understand, unprofessional, loud and vulgar. At this price, there are much better hotel choices around Pattaya and Jomtien beach area. I would definitely stay away from Nirvana Boutique Hotel.

Stayed in a studio, a 40 sqm large room that even got a kitchen, -but no cooking utilities at all, have a kitchen for what?
The bathroom got a very large bathtub, good for 2, and the bed and bed linen is one of the best I slept in, and the room is very well cleaned.
The breakfast is ok, but poor for a boutique hotel.
The pool area can only be reach from the street and the pool is small and wooden deck feels not safe.
The front desk staff was correct but not very friendly and charging 3% when you pay by credit card, for a full paid room not booked over an agent, thats cheep !
We also tried to book a van back to airport, the answer was, can not, and for a taxi they wanted 200 more then booked on the street!

Our room was large and nicely decorated. Service was friendly and location good with only 100 meters to the beach. Still, some details didn't meet my expectations given that this is a fairly pricey place. The pool is minimal and there's no real pool area. Also breakfast was mediocre. A small issue when on the top floor is the lack of an elevator.

Boutique implies something special or different, a term which when advertised by a hotel may attract a customer who thinks they will be receiving a service that is not routine or bland. This hotel claims to be super deluxe in features and to serve you best however I disagree.
At first appearance the room did seem deluxe as the area was large, clean and spacious with attractive decor and artwork. There was a very large kitchen area however the cupboards were bare, and devoid of any form of cookware except a toaster and kettle. There was a cooktop but no pots or pans. There was nothing to wipe the sink down with or dry your hands with. There was a bowel, plate and a cup and saucer per customer with cutlery to match. The flooring was attractive, but uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet as the tiles were widely spaced and the grout deeply recessed. There was no lock or even latch on the balcony door and there was no tinting on the windows. The doors merely closed and there was no privacy from the buildings across the road unless the blockout curtains were drawn. The main double entry door did not inspire security confidence as the bottom bolt did not protrude deeply enough into the concrete floor, and a firm shove with a shoulder would easily give room entry.
The bed was very comfortable, however getting in and out of it required planning in order to avoid hitting the 40cm plus wooden ledge that the mattress sat on as our bruised shins attested to. The bathroom design would be more suited to an outside pool area as it had a heavily pebbled floor that would be hard to clean without a thorough hose down. The floor was also quite painful to walk on without shoes. The ridiculously huge concrete bath looked more like an outdoor trough. It was anything but inviting or romantic and would be difficult to comfortably fill or clean. Ironically the hotel had a sign in the bathroom asking customers to use water frugally.
The hotel provided electrical mosquito repellent devices which were necessary as mosquitoes were able to enter through the balcony doors when open and between the spaces in the entry doors. Wifi was sporadic and there were mattresses stored against the wall in the corridor.
Not recommended for the asking money.

Room nice, large, clean and well equipped, including kitchen area. Comfortable bed. Location OK for Jomtien and ideal if you are not looking for the infamous Pattaya night life. Not far from beach but no sea view rooms really unless you bend out of your balcony to catch a glimpse of the sea. No elevator but a maximum of 3 floors up should be OK for anyone who is not handicapped. Breakfast basic, just OK. Have not used pool and also not Restaurant for other than breakfast so cannot comment on these. As far as rooms are concerned I would say you get a 4 star room for a 3 star price. We stayed in one 2 bedroom suite and one 1 bedroom suite with our extended family.

Room Tip: The one and two bedroom suites of the top floor are nice.

First off I should state that I did not personally stay here, my friend and travelling companion found this nice boutique hotel on his own and he stayed there. My observations are as a visitor not as a guest.

Having said that I think the hotel was quiet good. The rooms are big and well laid out. The bed looked very comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and even started teaching my friend some basic Thai words. Nice touch.

The location is good because you are off the main road but not too far so that walking to the actual beach is easy.

This is a perfectly good hotel. It's got an attractive decor, the staff are fine and it's not expensive. Beware if you need to use your car. It's a real tight squeeze and you can get into disputes with buses. If you just wanna walk to the beach and bronze it's ideal.

Room Tip: Best to not get ground floor. Can be a bit noisy. However, Jomtien by it's nature is a pretty no...
