My husband and I had a FABULOUS three night stay at the newly restored historic Twin Lakes Inn in gorgeous Twin Lakes, Colorado. The close-knit little Twin Lakes community worked lovingly and tirelessly to renovate & reopen Twin Lakes' historic stagecoach inn into the "Twin Lakes Inn". The Twin Lakes Inn is just charming, and the Inn's gracious & friendly staff take great pride in making every guest feel very comfortable and welcome. The rooms are comfortable & have been modernized in keeping with an historic little inn's spirit. The Inn's wonderful chef offers terrific dinners & lunches, in addition to a breakfast. Twin Lakes' scenery is spectacular due to its beautiful lakes set against gorgeous very high mountains -- just perfect for hiking. My husband & I, like the other Twin Lakes Inn guests, cherished the pristine beauty of this historic little area.

This was a great find for us. It was clean and quaint with an appreciation for the outdoor types. We stayed here before climbing Mount Elbert, and the location was perfect being about 2 miles from the trail head. Because we had to leave before the kitchen was open they set out to-go breakfast bags for us, which included granola bars, fruit, juice, and a bottle of water. The staff was great! We opted for a room with a private bath and didn't notice the lack of AC because the weather was perfect. The only complaint is the walls are thin so we could hear every sound of the people that left before us. There are no TVs but they offer rooms full of books, board games, and puzzles. We would definitely come back.

My partner and I were vacationing with our 16 month old son. We stopped to inquire about a vacant room and were made to feel very unwelcome. The woman said she had one room available and commented that it was fortunate because there had just been a cancelation. She quoted the price and I said, "ok, sounds great." Then she said, "the only thing is that we don't have any cribs." I said, "that's no problem. He sleeps in the bed with me." Then she asked if he would be loud during the night. I said that I didn't think so. She said that the inn is small and they like to keep it quiet so they usually don't allow kids under 12 years old. She said she would have to make an exception for my son. She suggested that we might be more comfortable staying elsewhere so that we wouldn't have to worry if he did cry in the night. We felt unwelcome so we left and ended up finding a nice cabin right next door (Windspirit) for the same price. So if you are traveling with children under 12, you are better off avoiding this place because your family isn't welcome here.
Furthermore, it seems there are nicer accommodations in Twin Lakes for the same (or less) money. At the Twin Lakes Inn you will share a bathroom with the other guests. The Windspirit cabin not only had a private bathroom, but a kitchenette and WIFI as well. The previous night we had stayed at the Winmar cabins down the road where we paid less money and had a nice spacious room with a private bathroom, kitchenette, and porch. Plus the inkeeper at the Winmar cabins was very nice and even brought over a toy for our son to play with which she said used to belong to her granddaughter.

Second time we had stayed there. The front desk staff was really friendly especially Mary. Mary went out of her way to provide items to cabin not included. Twin Lakes area is beautiful.
We stayed in cabin second time. Cabin could certainly been cleaner. The negative on renting cabin was owner burst in on our family without knocking. Said he was owner and had right to come in anytime he wanted. Very strange and arrogant about it. I have never stayed in a place where management/ownership feels they have the right to walk in without knocking whenever they please. We had rented the cabin as a family cabin, not a hostel.

Denkeepers, Owner at The Twin Lakes Inn, responded to this reviewResponded 6 August 2013

We regret that the cabin was entered without sufficient advance notice. To make sure this doesn't happen again, we've adjusted our procedures to make sure that everyone, including our management, is more aware of the occupancy status of the vacation rental home located behind the Inn and that we call Maggie's Cabin. The cabin is used as a Hostel as well as nightly rental, and for both situations, our cleaning staff works very hard to ensure the best possible conditions for our guests. Our rates are based upon 6 occupants and are very reasonable for the prime area of Twin Lakes. Again, our apologies for any inconvenience caused to our guests and we can assure this will not happen again in the future.

Just had lunch at the inn today. I ordered the Grilled Cheese Steak Sandwich with grilled onions which was prepared deliciously with a Mayo/mustard sauce. You have a choice of fries or salad. Loved the mountain view while having lunch with husband. The lodging at the inn looked quaint and very popular with all ages.
