Ores and Mine Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 2 Twin Lakes B&B and Inns

For our daughter's first anniversary, we gave them a trip to Twin Lakes, and luckily we found the Ores and Mines B & B. Donna was extremely welcoming, and the room was out of this world. Watching teh sun set over the lake, made for a very special evening. Also for our anniversary, Donna made special muffins with sparklers. We could not have asked for a better weekend.

Room Tip: If you want a special time request the Matchless room.

We only stayed one night because we did not find this jewel earlier. What a great find! We knew the minute we walked thru the door we were some place special. Donna and her Grandson Tony gave us the grand tour. We then settled into our room downstairs. The history of the place and the area is amazing and Donna knows everything about both and is more than willing to share her families history and that of the community of Leadville and Twin Lakes. She is funny and is so appreciative of all who do business with her. I have never had a better experience at a B&B in my life. The family room has a pool table, shuffleboard and ping pong, with horseshoes outside. A hot tub, swings and a beautiful lake are yours for the taking! This place does not deserve 5 stars. It deserves 10 stars!!!! We will be back and often. Thanks Donna! And thanks to Tony for making us family for a day!!!!!!

Room Tip: All our great! You can't go wrong!

The first thing that you notice when you get to the area is the amazing view of the Twin Lakes with the mountains in the distance; a beautiful scene! The second thing is the wonderful welcome you receive from your host Donna, who will treat you like family. This place is incredible! Everything there is handmade with skill and inventiveness or collected with love. There are historical memorabilia everywhere, most from the era of prospecting and mines. There is no shortage of things to do, with a pool table, ping pong and a shuffleboard, as well as a free musical jukebox. An outdoor hot tub with a super view is usually available also. There are some great walking destinations close by, as well as lots of interesting birds! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom fine, and the breakfast hot, filling, and delicious! We certainly hope to return!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, but the "Matchless" room (the "honeymoon suite"), altho...

Wow. What amazing hosts. Breathtaking views. And such an interesting place. The games room wasn't just full of fun, it was a museum! The whole place was, actually - antiques and collectables from all eras. The hot tub overlooking the mountains and lakes was purely magical at night. The whole stay was so much more personal and thoughtful than any place we've ever been. And the price was perfect. Just a short drive from Independence Pass: a great place to view the continental divide. We stayed here on our way from Denver to spend a day in Aspen. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This place is not only wonderful but the Donna is amazing! My husband and I took a short vacation because I needed to get away from the city and the noise and just take some time off. Little did we know that we were going to find a hiden treasure. Not only are the views amazing, the rooms cozy and the food delicious; but you also feel at home without being at home. We hiked and spent a lot of time outside and enjoyed every single moment we had inside to read and play games. To me that's a real couples retreat, no cellphones, no tv, nothing; just time with your significant other in nature or doing nothing at all. Donna is the most loving person I have ever meet and treats you like real family. I felt very spoiled every morning with a delicious breakfast and hot coffee (I know probably every person that has met Donna feels that way). After a long breakfast in the company of Donna and after many stories, we would venture out with very little plans. I highly recommend Ores and Mins B&B for any type of vacation you want to take because I know the location, the history and Donna will make it special for every person.

Room Tip: Take the Matchless!!!!

Had a relaxing and wonderful time with a wonderful host in Donna! Ores and mines is set in a special place in the solitude of the mountains. The building is a wonder in itself, so many articles in are of the area and displayed and incorporated in the rooms themselves. All the rooms are named after mines and are constructed from items John and Donna collected over the years as well as John's dad before them. Ask about the fence around the yard and you'll find the same material in one of the rooms as well. A real genius at design!! The matchless suite was exquisite and so comfortable, then to wake to a lovely fresh cooked breakfast, and coffee... with our delightful hostess. She is so knowledgeable of the history of the area. A place We will definitely make a return visit and be certain to recommend to friends!

Room Tip: The Matchless had a spectacular view with windows on three sides and fresh air if you chose. You were...

You can do better staying at Ores and Mine - the place is filled with all kinds of treasures, the rooms are all beautiful and comfortable, you can sit in a hot tub (or on the swing) looking out over Twin Lakes and the mountains, and last but not least the owners are wonderful people! And the breakfast is fabulous too. We felt like we were home and will definitely go back. Thanks Donna and John!

Room Tip: We liked both of the rooms upstairs, the one in the back has the best views.
