You could tell from the very beginning that staff work to accommodate guests. We were going there for a destination wedding and the group code didn't work for the online reservation. I talked with them twice--the second time was to alter my reservation and in that call I asked about a club program. I got signed up for the program which would get me an upgrade if available and late check out. Both of these things proved very important in our stay! We had a way better balcony/view/room than most of the other wedding guests and since we were taking a redeye flight home being able to stay in the room so long was wonderful. The pool/hot tub situation could be improved upon--(a) I'm glad we got explicit directions at the desk because it was somewhat hard to find/access, (b) it was NOT lit at night and actually very scary walking around in the dark on concrete near water!!, (c) it closed at 11pm which meant it was not used as much as we wanted. We did not partake of any meals at the hotel so I can't comment on the restaurants or costs. We had a great off-season group rate so it was very reasonable for us. I also have to say the coffee in the room was not good. The mugs had a thick rim which made drinking difficult and they had a small capacity. The whole coffee set up (cream/sugar, teas, coffee maker, etc.) could be bigger and better. I'm fairly easy to please with my one cup a morning but this coffee was really disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for a 2nd floor room (these have the good balconies!) on the west side. If you are on the 3rd o...

Wonderful place to stay and enjoy the mountain and stream view. We had a small deck with two chairs located on the second floor. Great place to have coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. The Resort is walking distance to downtown Vail!

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms had balconies and a beautiful view of the mountain and stream.

My family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers stayed at the Cascade Resort & Spa for one night. It is located at one end of Vail and has its own ski lift, which was fine for heading UP to ski, but proved difficult at the end of the day if you are not a great skier. We had to lug our skis while walking in the clunky boots to find a bus that would take us back to the resort and it was NOT EASY! The resort is a beautiful place to stay, with a luxurious feel all around and spacious rooms, but it is very expensive. The brunch was $25 per person, so we passed on that and grabbed some oatmeal/yogurt in the small shop. The outdoor pools were not warm enough to enjoy on a cold day and the one (of two) hot tubs was small and crowded--disappointing.

Dear Jeannelb,
Thank you for providing your candid feedback on your March stay with your family. We appreciate hearing from all our guests, whether good or not so great, so that we can use the feedback as an opportunity to improve. With Chair 20 onsite, guests love the easy access to getting on the mountain quickly. As for skiing back to Vail Cascade, there are a couple options. You can either take Simba run to Cascade Way, which is a fairly easy run. Or you can always ski to Chair 20 and download to the resort. If you prefer to ski down to Vail Village or Lionshead, you can call our Concierge for pick up or wait at the bus stop for the Cascade shuttle, which runs about every 10-15 minutes in the winter.

As for your feedback pertaining to the cost of the breakfast buffet, we can appreciate that it may be pricey, but we try to provide a range of options that are unique as the restaurant itself and are competitively priced for Vail standards. Recently, Atwater rolled out a 3 for $33 promotion, which is 30% off and runs through the summer. It’s a great deal and definitely worth checking out.

Thank you again for your honest review of Vail Cascade. We appreciate your business and the information you shared as we strive to continuously improve our processes and service standards as a AAA Four Diamond resort.

Sincerely,
John Garth

This was a first trip to Vail for the family, after several visits to Breckenridge for March/April skiing over the years. Since our focus was skiing, this was a fantastic location thanks to a dedicated lift (#20) right on the edge of the property. It was a fast way to get the day started, and you can either download on the lift back to the hotel or ski back (with a very small uphill climb at the end). The location tradeoff is that you are not within walking distance to the many restaurants and bars of Lionshead or Vail Village... however the bus service is free and convenient.

Our room was cozy, maybe a bit dated on the furnishings (a few dings here and there), but the bed and linens were very comfortable and the humidifier in the room was appreciated. The bathroom was well stocked. Overall a positive experience and I would consider coming back again.

Tips:
- If you're going to ski for more than 4 days you need to check out an Epic Local or 7-day Pass, both of which have discounts for your ski companions.
- You can store skis and boots at a location near the lift, useful if your room is on the opposite side of the property (or if you do not have a boot dryer)
- If you choose to ski into Lionshead or Vail Village at the end of the day, you might be waiting on a bus back to the hotel for 30+ minutes... maybe it's a good time to enjoy one of the many après ski options in town and catch a later bus.
- If you want to set up a ski lesson, book in advance to avoid the very long lines in Lionshead.

We stayed here on a stop-over while traveling cross country in April after ski season. Everyone was very accommodating. The staff, drinks and food were outstanding. Highly recommended. We will be going back during ski season next time!
My only regret was having a short time to stay. Oh, the room was very clean and comfortable too.

Great spot, good food, drinks, VERY clean. perfect view. not much I can say. This Resort is well mainitained and a great spot to adopt as a get-away. The desk staf are always professional and fun to work with. The remaining staff seem to keep to themselves and don't communicate much with patrons. Some people are ok with this...I would like some communication from staff as a customer....hello...good morning...how are things? If the remaining staff adopted the same practices and attitude of the check-in desk staff this would be a 10 rated Resort. After staying here multiple times over the years, I just notice a difference in the attitude and willingness to say hello between the great Desk check-in staff and the remaining emplyee base.

Room Tip: Upgrade is worth the $. river/ mountain view.

We have stayed at the Vail Cascade multiple times before… in the summer, before the ski season, during ski season, and this time, the weekend after ski season ended. Each time we are reminded of how much we love the Vail Cascade. This time we stayed with our 2 little ones in a suite which made for a great layout for a family. The service is always so personable and we do feel that just about everyone goes out of their way to make you feel served. Yes, there are 5 star hotels in the Vail area, but we continually choose the Vail Cascade over them because of how peaceful the property is. You are right by the creek, which you can hear from your room if you are facing the mountain, you have the heated pool (it was snowing this morning and there were people in it) overlooking the mountain. You are not in the middle of the hustle and bustle (though some may like that) and we SAVOR the mountain beauty and peacefulness of the property. We go to escape and we feel that we do. Everyone was respectful to our little ones and treated them like princesses.

If you have little ones, they have pack and plays but did not provide Johnson and Johnson amenities for them as some resorts do- bring your own. The Market had a great selection of snacks and lunch items for them, plus plush animals. Donovan park was a quick 10 minutes away and was an awesome playground… hands down more fun than the playgrounds in Vail Village and Lionshead.

If you stay during ski season you are ski-in ski -out which cannot be beat. The prices were very reasonable in the restaurant and the market. Negatives, we do feel that the rooms are getting worn feeling, and many of the servers in the restaurant were, admittedly, new and did not seem to have the level of service or caring that everyone else seemed to have. But all in all, we love going and love planning our next trip back.
