“Truly Luxurious”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

I’ll make this brief. The Four Seasons Resort in Vail is the definition of luxury. The resort is new, impeccably clean and staffed with courteous (and more importantly, discrete) employees. It is clear that the designers were obsessed with every last detail. The rooms are spacious, the closets are walk-in and the bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous. The musician playing in the lounge adds to a very cozy and serene atmosphere after a long day on the slope. The ski concierge was a pleasant surprise as well. The staff were highly attentive. When I finished my last run of the day, one of the staffers was actually waiting right there for me at the base of the hill where he took my skis and poles for me. Well worth the expense to stay in a fine, well run establishment such as the Four Seasons, if you are inclined to pay for a high end resort. It is a bit of a walk from the base of the mountain to the hotel, which is about my only gripe.

We stayed for 4 nights to ski and had a wonderful time. We would love to go back again this season. In my opinion, this is the only place to stay in Vail. It is extremely comfortable and convenient to Vail village. The ski concierge makes dealing with your ski equipment a breeze. We also thoroughly enjoyed the four seasons restaurants-loved breakfast each morning, and had a great experience ordering room service and from the flame menu. I used the spa steam room and sauna each day-really a necessity after a day of skiing. Book here-you will not be disappointed!

We just returned from a 5 night ski trip and had an excellent experience all around at the Four Seasons. The staff were accommodating to our requests and very friendly in the process. Our room, just a standard, was very spacious, had a nice fireplace, large bathroom, a lot of storage space, comfortable bed and just all around well appointed. The amenities are as expected from a Four Seasons. The ski shop in the hotel couldn't be more convenient and the staff were great. The ski concierge at the base of Vista Bahn lift was absolutely perfect...lockers to warm boots overnight, skis waiting for you, hot drinks, treats etc. awaited your arrival and departure and again, the staff were wonderful. The hotel car service was excellent as well as they took us to Lionshead each morning so we could drop our 4 yr old off at ski school. The hotel pool/hot tubs, spa etc. were excellent. Breakfast in Flame was very good. We had planned to have dinner there as well but our sick child prevented it.

We thougth the location was excellent....not ski in/ski out but just a short walk thru Vail Village to the Vista Bahn lift....and a nice short walk is perfect to get you going in the morning.

It's always makes for a more pleasurable experience when your child (in our case a 4 yr old) is treated very well. We arrived back to our hotel after dinner the first night to find a plate of cookies with our son's name spelled out in chocolate on the plate). They had also made up a little bed for him with a litle stuffed bear etc.

The worst part of our trip (our son got the flu) was made much more tolerable by the hotel staff. They saw how bad he was in the hotel lobby and the manager (we think, although we did not get his name) came up to our room with a thermometer, ice bag and an offer to see the hotel doctor. We ended up in the local ER to treat the flu. The next morning the hotel manager (again, we think that's who it was) stopped up to see how our son was doing which again was a very nice gesture.

We can't wait to return and are now considering a stay at the Four Seasons this summer...and again next winter. We typically stay at Four Seasons when we travel and the type of service we receive is part of our decision....friendly, personably service, especially with a child. Thank you to all Vail Four Seasons staff, especially the person (manager?) who gave extra attention to us with our sick child.

The Four Seasons Vail is an excellent resort for winter or summer. I stayed there once this fall during the peak of the fall colors - spectacular! I also returned in December for a quick ski trip.

The Four Seasons has a sophisticated but very comfortable atmosphere. Perhaps the best way to describe it is a 'luxury lodge'. The staff was attentive and after one day most were calling me by name. The rooms are beautiful and many have fireplaces which along with the hot tub and spa facilities are all real treats after a day of skiing! Food is fantastic of course but don't miss their special hot chocolate - it is a one of a kind creation.

Although not literally at the base of the mountain, it is close and still a walk (although you wouldn't want to do it in your ski boots). So the shuttle bus or willing bellmen will take you over to the village where it is a two minute walk to the Four Season's own ski concierge at the base of the mountain. What a great service that is! Partnering with Gorsuch Sports (a Four Seasons quality ski shop), you just leave all your equipment there and it is ready, waiting, and WARM for you in your personal locker. The ladies will even help you buckle up if you'd like that assistance while you sip your complementary beverage and nibble on your complementary muffins or cookies. Attendants will then be at the base of the slopes waiting to take your skis at the end of the day, literally greeting you the instant you step out of your bindings.

Great service, excellent Four Seasons quality, and a fantastic destination! What more could you ask for? OK, a little snow is always nice too!

Room Tip: Facing the mountain is preferred over the mountain view out front because I-70 is only a short dista...

The hotel is so nice, right in the village, with exceptional service. One of my favorite things is ski on and off luxury locker for guests. The locker room has boot warmers, drinks etc. It makes for a perfect way to start and end the day.

My wife surprised me with a trip to Vail for our anniversary. We typically ski Jackson Hole and the Four Seasons JH has spoiled us a bit. We found the Four Seasons Vail to be lacking in some areas. The room we paid for promised a balcony with premier mountain views. What we were given was a sliding glass door to a ledge with a lawn chair sqeezed in, and views of the side of the hotel. Upon pointing out that the room description did not match reality, we were asked to wait while they prepared the room we paid for. We told them we would wait in the bar. An hour and a half later, we approached the front desk and only then were we informed the room was ready. The front desk staff seemed annoyed that I would have audacity to politely ask to be given what I purchased. The other staff members were fantastic. The young lady working the bar was great and actually arranged to have some wasabi peas sent to our room after overhearing how much we loved them.

The poolside service was unimpressive. After 20 minutes we were finally approached but our drink request was ignored. We never saw the guy again that evening. Another staff member just happened to walk by and asked if we needed anything. When told that our drink order was placed half an hour prior, he seemed genuinely embarassed and quickly took care of the matter.

Room service was timely but my wife's filet was still mooing although she ordered it well. She was too embarassed to return it so $40 peice of meat wasted. Our room service tray/dirty dishes would remain in the hallway for hours and on one ocassion for over 24 hours. Housekeeping apparently feels removing the dishes from our hallway is not included in their job description.

We had to call and request slippers. Twice. Slippers are a staple at the Four Seasons JH so this corner cut surprised me.

This proprerty is not ski in ski out, which we knew. We just didn't realize how we've taken that for granted all these years.

All in all the property is quite lovely, however. My wife and I had a great trip and if all I have to complain about in this world is room service at the Four Seasons then life is pretty good. But life will be even better this year when we return to Four Seasons Jackson Hole.

I recently stayed at the Four Seasons Vail Resort with a business group of thirty travelers accustomed to staying at 4-star+ accommodations. To a person, the group was thrilled with every aspect of the Four Seasons; and at the prices the resort commands it is as it should be.

The hotel is situated a two-block walk to the downtown Vail area of restaurants and shops. It is decorated beautifully both inside and out and of course, every staff member from the bellmen to the receptionists to the maids are well-trained in the courtesy, genuine hospitality and helpfulness. They truly give the resort of feeling of welcoming that is so rare outside of Four Seasons.

I stayed in a suite with three bedrooms and three other guests. The room was spacious, well furnished and spotlessly clean. Certainly it's the type of room that would perfectly suit a family as well. Each bedroom room has its own bathroom/shower. There is a kitchen and a large dining room as well making it quite easy to cook in rather than dining out.

The ski concierge is what really made this resort stand out. There is a fitting room on the main floor of the hotel open until 10pm. The staff outfitted me with skis, boots, poles and helmet based on my ability. Then, the equipment was sent to the rental center near the base of the mountain for easy pickup and dropoff on ski-days. They even had friendly and helpful attendants to help with the on and off of ski boots. Coffee, muffins, cookies, fruit and water were all available at no charge on the main floor.

The spa and exercise facilities at the Four Seasons are also top-notch. Everything (equipment, sauna, steam room, whirlpool etc.) is top quality, in perfect working order and shiny clean. The restaurant offers a very nice menu at all times of the day and (this is getting repetitive) has a diligent, friendly and knowledgable staff. The food was excellent and truthfully...not terribly overpriced.

I really can't think of anything to criticize this resort about except that the beds were too soft for my liking and the thermostat seemed to run warm; something my colleagues also commented on.

If I return to Vail I doubt that I'd even consider another resort...the Four Seasons just makes the entire stay so EASY and ENJOYABLE.

Room Tip: Ask for a shower that has a steamer.
