Description: From the creators of the legendary Sweet Basil in Vail Colorado, comes a fresh, innovative new restaurant. Aptly named Mountain Standard, this rustic and relaxed tavern aims to set a new standard in the Vail valley by using an ancient form of cooking. The majority of Mountain Standard’s menu is prepared via the most primal cooking method: over an open and live wood fire. The only restaurant in the valley to devote themselves to this age-old way of cooking, the food at this exciting new restaurant has rustic, bold and honest flavors, focusing on the purest ingredients in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond.Service, like the cuisine, has that perfect balance of providing a first class dining experience with a more casual vibe. There is no smoke and mirrors here – no fuss – just simple, honest, from the heart service and cooking. The beauty of the creek side location is mirrored by the high energy vibe of this dynamic restaurant. It is this energy, outstanding service, and hand crafted food that enables Mountain Standard to offer a truly unique dining experience, approachable and enjoyable to everyone.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had! Food and service absolute perfection. Fresh ingredients artfully prepared but not overly fussy. We sat at the bar and the experienced bartender was incredibly knowledgable about the menu and food, and added much to our experience. All dishes excellent, the bruschetta a standout . Worth every cent,

Had a fine lunch here today. I ate the Pork Belly BLT, and my wife had the garden salad with shrimp. Both were excellent; however, the bread the BLT was prepared on was a bit tough to bite through without squirting the sandwich contents out the side. You might ask for other options. The salad was excellent. We would highly recommend MStandard!

We chose this as our 'nice spot' for dinner on our final night in Vail and we're not disappointed. The service was incredibly friendly and the menu was unique and upscale, didn't have a bad thing on it.
We'd highly recommend the gnocchi appetizer, it was like nothing we'd ever tried. For entrees, we had the succulent pork loin and the light and fresh trout. Both excellent choices.
We finished off the evening with the "Kitchen Sauce" - a 6 pack for the kitchen crew, resulting in an uproarious cheer from the kitchen. Such fun! They had more than earned it.
Location is great too - view from the patio on the back side of Vail Village is beautiful, overlooking the river. Loved every minute of this!

Lunch for two with an Lager was about $70.00. It was worth every penny. I had the Pork Belly Club and my wife the Corn Chowder. We started with Bruschetta which was the absolute best I have ever had - better than that in Italy. The Pork Belly was unusual but delicious. The Corn Chowder was magnificent and compared to the excellent chowder served in the Arizona Room at the Grand Canyon. The local lager was good but again too bitter for my taste. Folks in Colorado seem to like that style. Service was excellent. The view of Vail's occupants at their Saturday street fair was interesting. We will return on our next trip to the mountains. Al Freso on the patio would be a good choice in fair weather.

Yes, it's vibrant and lively. It's fun. The food is outstanding. Oysters, sweet pea hummus, greens salad, shrimp and grits, gnocchi, steak tartare...every flavor fantastic. I'm going back. Ok, they were out of the rouge I ordered, but the Nebbiolo hit the spot. Don't miss it.
