We loved every minute staying at this hotel! We came as a family, so we rented the 3 bedroom suite which was a perfect size for everyone. It was easy getting to and from the slopes in Lionshead and was only a 5 minute walk to the center of town. There is a shuttle that will take you to the edge of the slopes and you can valet your ski's as soon as you come down the mountain. The amenities, beds and showers are all really comfortable for a week of skiing. Try out the hot tub after a long day on the slopes - very relaxing.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with a big family, try to get the 3 bedroom suites.

We've spent 7 days here in Ritz Vail, everything is memorable from hotel room, valet, bar service. The toiletry amenities added extra luxury and refinement as the Ritz website even stated that their guests found it relaxing using the Asprey Purple Water Amenities. We stored both used and unused shampoo, soap, shower gels in a bag with our own personal items and left in the closet with our luggages. On the last day of our stay, we came back and found the bag missing, I called the Housekeeping, and their manager ROSS came and stated that he asked the maids to take it as they DO NOT ALLOW guests to take so many amenities away. I pointed out that these are all the amenities we have for our 7 days stay, and we have 4 people staying in a 2-bed room suite. We haven't asked for any extra items, but only the regular items the house keepers replenish on a daily basis for our suite. We are entitled to these items and we have not stayed in any hotel that does not allow their guests to take the amenities whether they are of luxury brands or not. The manager says that they need to keep the cost down, I pointed out to him that all amenities cost on a regular daily replenishment should already be built in to the daily rate of the hotel stay that guests are paying. There is no sign in the bathrooms indicating that for cost saving purpose, hotels are only provide limited amount of amenities since they are too expensive. I couldn't believe that I heard such kind of statement from a 5-star hotel manager. All other 5-stars we have stayed like Four Seasons, JW Marriott or even other Ritz resorts would all accommodate their guests' reasonable requests, not to mention they take what belong to them. In addition, since we already put all items in our personal storage, they took it away, and this is nothing different from stealing guest's personal items. This is completely unexpected and left me very upset on my last day of stay. It is not just about bars of soaps, it is a matter of principal that the hotel offended and invaded guests personal territory. If we throw all the unused items in the garbage, they can collect back and reuse them for cost saving. But we already used some those items, and I am wondering if they are going to put into other guest rooms as they cannot even tell whether they are used or not... Although the complaint only applies to the Housekeeping Department, that is the key part of a hotel stay. It is a total disappointment that the Ritz hotel would have such a major blemish.

Superb service from booking to checking out. Treated like old friends, remembered from previous visits. Nothing is a problem, eager to please. Traditional mountain elegance decor. Suites have high quality appliances and table/bar ware; comfortable beds with fine linens, twice daily room service. Pampered and spoiled, what's not to like? Have two more bookings already for their reliable level of service. Have to be fair & balanced in review--now charge for s'mores chocolate & graham crackers, really? Disappointed, I'm guessing that'll be complimentary again by next visit.

First time for my family in a Ritz. We had huge expectations and when we pulled in and the valet took the car, we were ushered down a hall to check in. I was expecting some grand lobby entrance and the check in was at the end of a hall - really? We ultimately found a waiting area that had a bar and a business center next to a pool - but immediately this was not what we expected. Our room was elegant and first class - although when you turned off the AC and left the patio doors open to get fresh air, the suite we had (2 bedroom) never seemed to smell fresh and the room had that stale room smell. We were also on the street side and so the noise level from the automotive travel was heard around the clock. The bed in the 2nd room was 2 twin beds pushed together and had a wooden center piece. Not that comfortable if you wanted to snuggle. On our last day there I sent my son down to get a luggage cart and the valet said he could not take it up to our room to pack - a liability issue - really? Come on.

We had never stayed at a Ritz-Carlton before, but it will not be our last at a Ritz. We spent 9 wonderful days there. It was every bit as comfortable as our own home. The mornings were cool at times and we would turn on the gas fireplace and read in front of it while waiting for our group to arouse and the temperature to increase.
The kitchen was equipped with all new Bosch appliances that worked perfectly. The whole of the three-bedroom condo was outfitted with top of the line furnishings, the beds were extremely comfortable and we slept peacefully each night. We even had heated floors in the bathroom.
But the best part of the Vail Ritz is its staff. Everyone of them was there to make our stay even more enjoyable. The Concierge group, Anne, Theo, Oana and Heather always had something enjoyable for us to do or would be able to add to the betterment of our own plans. The maids were courteous and accommodating and even found a mid-weight blanket for a temperature conscious guest and kept the rooms sparkling clean. The valets were at times close to being overwhelmed, but all in all, their service was very punctual. The free shuttle in the the two villages of Vail and to the West Vail area was unexpected and very helpful.
One of the best reasons to stay at the Ritz in Vail is the freshly-baked afternoon chocolate-chip cookies.

Room Tip: The rooms ending in 28 had very good views of the pool and a mountain and you can see the gondola lift from them.
