“Stellar food and wonderful experience”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

From going up the gondola, riding in the (yes, slightly pimped-out) snowcat through the swirling snow, to the doorway was awesome; the trip back (with slightly better visibility) was just as good.

In between, it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Started with the pork belly, which was delicious; the salad was good, but, well, I love salad and wouldn't have minded more... My lamb was outstanding, served with 5 separate little dabs of condiment to accompany, and they were all delicious and a perfect match. Particularly the carrot puree with a hint of Indian spices -- awesome! Except that the salted dried olives were also really, really, good. The other members of my party had the duck, and pronounced it delicious.

The 5-chocolate dessert is really good, however the standout dessert was the cheese plate -- it came with a small amount of truffle honey that was an incredible taste experience; sweet combined with incredible umami. A small amount went a long way, but man -- what an accent!

It was a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience overall.

“Outstanding in every way”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

A trifecta of perfect food, service and view! It was the best experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I recommend you reserve well in advance and early in the evening to witness a glorious sunset in the Rockies. The water steered us to one Chef’s tasting and one price fix set of choices so we could share seven plates. Every dish was wonderful, especially the elk and sea bass.
The place is accessible only by the Lionshead Gondola, then a short but memorable ride on a snow cat with a luxurious heated cabin and first class seating.

“Unique Experience and Delicious Food!”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

What a fun way to have dinner in Vail. Ride up the Lionshead gondola and then travel via snowcat to this beautiful restaurant. You'll feel like you've arrived in the Swiss Alps once you enter the dining room! The menu is prix fix (4 or 5 courses, or a more extensive tasting menu). We felt that the prices were a good value to the delicious food and generous portions. Standout items included the goat cheese burrata, tofu with lemongrass (delicious!), salmon, sea bass, and wonderful desserts. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and help to make your experience an awesome one. Vail is filled with great (and expensive!) restaurants, but Game Creek stands out as one of the best.

“Second best meal in Vail, wonderful experience”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

My wife, son, and I spent the last week in Vail. This was a wonderful experience - the gondola ride out of Lionshead (very different to take it at night dressed for dinner vs in ski gear), the Cat ride (on the way back my son and I rode in the front), and the dinner itself. The food was very high end - I had the elk off the tasting menu, my wife some lamb, and we both agreed it was some of the better prepared meats we had eaten. The service was very friendly and well paced, the room is a very comfortable European chalet feel. I definitely keep this on my go-to list of Vail restaurants.

“An experience in many ways”

Ride the gondola up, and snowcat to the restaurant. The Chef made special adjustments for us. Great experience for a special occasion or to cap off your visit to Vail. Book well in advance.
