The Sebastian is truly worthy of its reputation, in a town where quality is beyond expected.

Your first impression of the hotel including Valet area and lobby is extraordinary. Very nicely decorated and truly gives that luxurious mountain lodge feel. In fact this is one of the only hotels i have ever spent time just sitting in the lobby reading, its that nice.

Check in was simple and up to the room. Getting to the room was a bit inconvenient as the rooms are not situated on a straight corridor but rather a winding circle layout. Not really a big deal however if you plan on coming and going to your room often it may take a while. The layout however does seem to make the rooms and hallway area seem more private. Our room was located on the inner side of the hallway and as a result seemed to be looking over a very tiny courtyard of some sort which really just made the view a roof/ exterior wall of the hotel.

Again not really a big deal because you are in Vail, and should be out enjoying everything. The rooms are comfortable with fridges, comfy beds, etc. The bathroom is very nice and provides very nice amenities. (The shampoo bottles are like 20$ if you want to take them, that's how nice they are)

The hotel is located at the norther part of the small village (farthest part from the slopes) but since it was Summer, this did not really make for a huge concern. The hotel is truly in the middle of this wonderful ski village. Everything in both Vail village and the adjoining lions head village is easily within walking distance. The pool looked quite nice although we did not use it. Because the hotel is so far north, it literally sits right up against the highway. We did not notice an issue, although i imagine if your room was on the northern side of the hotel it could be a problem.

In the summer parking in the Vail Village parking garage is free. Its a short walk, but you may want to drop your bags off first, if you opt for this over the valet parking.

This hotel delivers in going out of their way for customer service. The hotel staff on every level is polite, courteous and goes out of the way to make you feel welcome. The hotel itself is beautiful and very clean. Although this is not a ski in/ski out location they do have a base camp right by the lift which stores your skis, etc. overnight. The rooms were clean and tastefully done. We booked our trip on Vail.com and obtained a great rate otherwise we would not have been able to stay here. The Sebastian delivers!

Our stay at the Sebastian-Vail was wonderful! We enjoyed the beautiful decor, luxury, ambience, and entire property and staff as well. It was what I expected from my experiences at other five star establishments. It was like lodging in an ultra chic Nordstroms.
The complimentary cookies, fruit, and wireless internet access water were all very much appreciated.
I would have liked to have seen a better value for the dining options that were available (block 16 was not yet open). It would have encouraged me to spend more per meal and to dine more on-site, as opposed to going other places.

thank you,
Cedrick & Nikki

Room Tip: If available, request a room with a view of the mountains or something, prior to your arrival.

Went to the restaurant for a wine pairing dinner birthday celebration. The food was great. The service was bad. The waitress had no knowledge of the wine pairing dinners the restaurant offered.

My husband and I live in Denver and drove to Vail for a wedding. Afraid to drive Vail pass in the winter at night, we decided to stay overnight at the Sebastian. Definitely a great choice. For a trip in the future, we were delighted to learn that the Sebastian allows dogs (but be prepared to pay $150 for the stay). I requested a room with no view to make sure we did not hear any highway noise. You could hear a pin drop within our room ( room 410) and I am a very light sleeper. We looked at a building and a mini glimpse of the mountain. Our room was so comfortable (although we would have preferred a firmer mattress but realize that most people like pillow tops). The giant armoire held the TV. We were so thrilled that the doors actually closed, eliminating those annoying LED lights. When we couldn't figure out how to set the clock, the front desk immediately sent someone to our room to help us. The entire staff was delightfully friendly and helpful. The location of the Sebastian is perfectly situated in Vail Village. We had lunch at Sweet Basil which was fantastic. The cost of this hotel is in line with other premium properties in Vail.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing I 70.

We are frequent visitors to Vail and stayed at the Sebastian over the holidays, December, 2011. The hotel neglected to tell us our room was on one of the two floors designated for pets; my husband is asthmatic so we had to be moved. The second room was worse as they had cleaned the carpet with a chemical that made both of us ill in 5 minutes. Our third room was acceptable, but definitely not up to Vail luxury standards. The room was small and tired. There was absolutely no view and no privacy if you opened the window. Service at this hotel is poor as there are not enough staff to provide timely service. The lobby bar, while nice, is decidedly lacking in service with dirty tables and a wait to even get your bill. The lobby bathroom always needed attention. The rooms didn't have adequate personal products - not even a shower cap. This hotel appears to be trying to cut too many corners. We have stayed at many hotels in Vail and this is definitely not a top hotel.

Dear MileHighHorses;

We are very, very upset that your stay was disappointing to you. We do allow pets and are sorry that you got placed on one of the two floors we allow them on. Knowing this in advance is definitely preferable. We will mark your guest record appropriately. Additionally we try and ask in our reservation sales process about sensitivities and allergies. We mark guest records all the time with tree nut allergies as well as gluten intolerance. Knowing how you made your reservation would be important too.

We charge a pet fee to ensure that we clean each of the rooms completely after the pet to avoid any issues with other guests.

The staffing issues are definitely not what the majority of our guests experience. We absolutely want to provide exceptional service and find that this really is one of our key differentiation points between The Sebastian and the other Vail hotels. Additionally our rooms offer features and amenities like sweet & savory snacks, water, soda's and Nespresso coffee, free DVD's refrigerators and twice daily maid service that others do not.

As we looked through the manager reports we do not show the issues you describe and want to make this right, as we obviously missed the opportunity with your stay. Please call me because we need to ensure satisfaction. As you are local we would love to have you back. I may be reached at 970-477-8017

I am so glad that I booked at the Sebastian. We stayed for 3 nights during the week between Christmas and New Years. The lobby is spectacular, with multiple fireplaces, lots of cozy chairs to settle into, a library with games, and a bar if you're up for drinking and socializing. My daughter loved the heated outdoor pool, and I loved the four outdoor hot tubs with views of the slopes. There is a free car service to the slopes or restruants about town - all the valet guys were great. Charming Vail Village is right outside your door, with a variety of shops and restruants. There is a free DVD "rental" machine, a spa, a gym for working out. The concierge serve was endlessly helpful. A liitle pricy during peak season, but no worse than other comparable properites in Vail
