I was in Vail for a few days for a family vacation, and stayed in a condo next door to Moe's. Every day, the smoky BBQ smell from Moe's drifted over to our condo and tempted us to give it a try. We finally gave in one afternoon, and ordered one of their to-go dinners for four, and for a very reasonable price. We had the smoked BBQ turkey, watermelon and cucumber salad, sweet slaw, and cornbread. The salads were awesome, and although the smoked turkey was a bit salty, it lived up to the tantalizing smell of smoked meat and BBQ sauce. 4 stars for a pretty darn good BBQ joint from this foodie.

Moe’s Original BBQ is located above stairs in Lionshead near the Lionshead ski lift.

The interior dining room looks like a Southern BBQ dining room. There are two sets of patio dining areas. One outdoor dining area is open to the sky, and the second outdoor dining area is covered.

We both select the pulled pork platters with baked beans and potato salad. Neither of us can consume the large portions.

We pass on the gift shop items. We find Southern BBQ in Vail to be a real treat.

Just plain old great food. Best pulled pork sandwich I have ever eaten.
Good location in Lions Head. A locals' favorite since it opened a few years back

If you like BBQ, hmmm, go here. Nothing fancy (but how about fried catfish?), nothing elaborate. But if you like a bun full of slow cooked meat and tangy sauce, yowsa. Pity no draft beers, but the place is little, so I forgive them.

We stopped here for lunch late on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't really busy but there was only one person manning the order counter so it took a long time! to get the food. Perhaps they were short-staffed, perhaps they were working on a catering order, but it was too long to wait for food you went to the counter to order and pick up. When we did finally get our food (smoked turkey with sides), it was delicious. We'd only go back if there was no visible line of people waiting to order.
