“Great lodging in Vail”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

This is our 4th time staying at Lion Square Lodge and it just keeps on getting better. The location is the best location in all of Vail with steps away from the gondola and ski school. My family and I just love it here and highly recommend Lion Square Lodge. The staff is truly exceptional and accommodating. Thank you to Andrew, Kirstin, Daniel, and Ana for two great stays this season. See you all next year!

Room Tip: We love the ski in ski out location

Just returned from a great week at Vail at the Lions Square Lodge. Stayed in a great 2 bedroom condo in the North Tower. For those who don't know Vail, this is in my opinion, the best location in vail. The Gondola is right next to the hotel, and for kids, this is probably the most convenient location because the ski school for kids is right here. Also, the North Tower is the newest and has it's own Hot Tub and gym, of which i was the only one using them last week, or so it seemed. the Unit was awesome, large living room and kitchen area, and comfortably sized bedrooms, each with in suite bathrooms. The staff was very accommodating in storing our skis and getting us around town with a pleasant attitude. i have stayed here many times, but really do love the location and quality of the accommodations. thanks for another great stay!

Room Tip: The North Tower is newer and had brand new rooms, but it's farthest from the gondola and pool...

We have stayed at the Lion Square Lodge several times in the past 8 years. After a couple of years skiing in Utah, we decided to go back to Vail, after learning that Lion Square completely gutted and renovated the rooms. We booked early, and we were able to get ground floor room right across from the Gondola.

We arrived early, and our room was not quite ready for us. Max took all our luggage and gear and stored it for us, and delivered it all to our room later. He also helped my son bring all the skis to the rental area to be waxed and sharpened. All of the staff was more than helpful, and friendly. There is a complimentary van into town for grocery shopping.

When our room was finally ready, we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms appear larger than we remembered, with plenty of comfortable furniture to collapse on, after a long day of skiing. Apparently we were the first to use the room after renovations. There were a few minor issues with things not working correctly. They were fixed immediately after we made the staff aware. The kitchen was well stocked for everything we needed. When we needed to sleep, there was no noise at all And our first night there was New Year's Eve.

Due to the location of our room, we did not have a lot of need for the staff. We were able to leave our room and walk a few steps to the gondola. We kept our skis on the patio outside our room, instead of using the complimentary storage. After a long day on the mountain, we would literally ski straight to our room, remove our skis, and take 3 steps into our room. You cannot beat the location of Lions Square lodge.

The restaurant connected to the lodge was very good. {I wish I could remember the name} We ate there one night, and ordered take out another. Both meals were delicious.

There was ample room, 2B/2B for 4 adults.

I would definitely return to Lion Square lodge, hopefully next year!

Room Tip: You can't beat the convenience of the ground floor ski in/ski out, right across from the gondola...

We have been staying at the Lion Square Lodge for 10 years. The location for skiing is outstanding. Having ski rental in the building with great ski valets makes it so easy. I do not normally comment on personnel but the staff here is excellent. They are always friendly and very helpful. The rooms are adequate. They are all similar but some nicer than others with none being outstanding. The kids love the outdoor hot tubs and pool right at the base of the mountain.

Super awesome things: right by the gondola, friendly- helpful staff (specially the ski valet and luggage & parking guys), beautiful views (if you are facing the mountain), close to Arabelle village, close to ski school and lift tickets, convenience store near by, room-kitchen with new appliances and utensils. Only thing for improvement will be the decor & furniture in the room.

Room Tip: Face the mountain but not the gondola... I would think those are pretty noisy in the winter with all...

The gondola was so close that it was only twenty steps. The rooms and accommodation was definitely five star and all the staff were very helpful.
There were people to carry your skis to the gondola. Front desk staff to drive to any local location. There is a great pool and jacuzzi along with a sauna and exercise room and a very lively restaurant. All in all excellent value, just the greatest time.

Great location for a ski vacation. We had a 2 bedroom condo with 2 sleeper sofas in living area. Our condo was beautifully decorated and well equiped with everything we needed to cook our own meals. Our group of 5 ranged in age from 66 - 86. The staff was exceptional and looked after every need we had. When we first arrived, Max (bellman) took care of everything in getting all of our luggage and skis to our condo. He was so great and helped us again when we left. We can't say enough good things about him. When ever we had a maintenance issue, Tom and Mike took care of things right away. We were very close to the gondola and all the restaurants and ski shops. If we go back to Vail, we will definitely stay at Lions Square Lodge again.
