“Good location, some inferior rooms and disorganised management”
Reviewed 17 January 2011

Whilst in a great location, unless you book directly with the lodge you will be offered only the worst rooms. Some level one rooms in the main building nearest the Gondola are dark, gloomy, and not up to current building code. We booked thru an agent from Australia, and were told that the agency used only had access to these poor rooms. The booked and confirmed room configuration (2 bed, two beds in one room for teenagers) was not offered. A stressful encounter with the Manager resulted in a move to a higher floor that did not meet our confirmed booking. Then we had to move mid holiday to a loft room in the North building. This room was acceptable. The identical treatment was dished out to another Australian Group the day after we checked in. Our experience; deceptive and difficult to deal with unless pushed. A wonderful time in the Colorado Mountains! At the base of the Gondola for easy in/out access to the skiing! The staff is very helpful and courteous. What a joy not to drive or carry your equipment thru parking lots to the lift!

A relaxing vacation or just a quick weekend from Denver!

Just stayed a few days before the craziness of the Christmas ski-week started. Perfect location. Truly couldn't get any closer to the Gondola. Everyone was so friendly, from reservations to check-in and concierge. Parking outside of door. 2 Spas and heated pool. Very nice locker rooms. Ski valet took skis after returning in afternoon and offered hot chocolate and cider. The ski rental shop is located in same building as well. Book ahead for extra discount. Good deals for Apres Ski at the onsite restaurant. (Although THEY could have been a bit more on the friendly side) Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend. We stayed in 2 bed/2 bath with generous living area, Unit 201.

Just stayed at Lion Square Lodge North unit 184 for the opeing of Vails ski season. This unit is locagted on the first floor with easy access right off the patio to the slopes. Incredible location and totally upscale renovated one bedroom, two bath condo with granite travertine and stainless appliances, we truly felt like we were living the dream. We also had free parking right at our front door it was like staying in a brand new luxury house at the base of lionshead. We can't wait to go back. This is the only place I will ever stay in Lion square lodge.

This is an overall great hotel. Stayed for a week in a one bedroom condo with a mountain view. Room was clean although a little dated. Bed was comfy and the kitchen was well equiped. There is even a gas grill on the balcony. The best feature hands down is the proximity to the gondola. Literally out the back door. Vail has a wide variety of activities and the weather is very comfortable in the summer. Can't wait to go back!

Booked a 2 bedroom condo for a long weekend in August. We had a fantastic time. The condo was very clean and comfortable. The decor was rustic and well taken care of. We had a balcony overlooking the mountain, and we spent some nice evenings relaxing on it. Vail was off season and the price was reasonable.

The pool was nice and was not crowded. The on-site restaurant was okay; the food was good, but very pricey. The check-in and out was efficient and quick, and they accommodated our early check-in.

The only negative was the master bedroom had a window, but the window opened on to the outside hallway. We wanted to open the window to cool the bedroom off at night, but were uncomfortable having a separation of only a screen between us and anyone in the hallway. The condo got uncomfortably warm at night and we were unable to cool the condo down enough in the evening to help with sleeping.

Perfect location right in the middle of Lionshead Village. Hotel is a mix of 1& 2 bedroom condos and hotel rooms. We stayed in a hotel room with two queen beds that was beautiful and clean. Price was extremely reasonable...think under $125! Free parking! Micro, fridge, coffee maker and all dishes and glassware. BBQ on the balcony so you can bbq and eat in your room if you want to, or you can go to Mezzaluna Restaurant on site. Food was good, and they have daily happy hour specials. Easy 5 minute walk to great restaurants, or take the free shuttle bus over to Vail Village for even more shopping and restaurants.

The hotel has a beautiful pool area and two great hot tubs. Lots of flowers surrounding the pool, great view of the mountains, tons of pool toys for the kids, and lots of chairs and tables. The staff at this hotel is amazing...we were only going to stay for two nights in Vail, but due to the service, great room, and so much to do, we ended up staying for 5 nights. The Sunday Farmer's Market in Vail Village is fantastic - fresh breakfast, lunch and dinner at your fingertips from local vendors. The ski lift is right out the back side of the building...I can see how this would be a very popular place during the winter! There are miles and miles of paved bike trails nearby, suitable for even the beginning riders...we saw tons of parents and children out riding.

We are in Vail at least once a year, and will only stay at Lion Square Lodge in the future!
