“Very good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2011

Stayed here with family in one of the condos. Very small units and sort of dark. The door ways to bedroom and bathroom are so tiny.Felt like I was on a cruise ship. Nicely furnished. Connects to a hotel room. Good problem solvers at front desk. The conceirge was curt and not real helpful. Used the spa and although the spa amenities were sparse the massage was good. Located on good bus stop for accessing vail village. Sort of noisy from the freeway and corridors of other hotels so close to each other

We're regular visitors to Vail. We just booked another weekend for September after being there in July. We confidently reserved at The Marriott Vail Resort.

As I'm thinking of important features to mention and how to prioritize them, the friendliness of the staff never slips below the top spot. During this last visit, there was some confusion about our reservation and the resort was full. The lobby was very busy during check-in and I was a little concerned when reception stated that they might not have a room for us. Although I had a bad feeling about the possible outcome, the desk staff kept us engaged in pleasant conversation as they worked together to accommodate us. Eventually, we were given a room and without potential attitude, confrontation nor arrogance. They seemed genuinely happy that they were able to resolve it and have us as their guests.

The bell team was always pleasant and friendly and although we only had one casual meal in the lounge area (delicious appetizers), the bar and restaurant associates always helped with any questions we had about the menus or property. Two minor disappointments- their valet only parking prices and format and the timeliness of maid service. We understood the challenges of a full house but these were still a minor annoyance and having to call to remind them that the room had not been cleaned was a bit of a surprise, based on past experiences. But always dependably friendly and apologetic, so it was easily forgiven.

The location is great as a base for all our activities and the in-house variety of pools and hot-tubs allows for a great way to wind down after a busy day. When invited to a friend's wedding in a few weeks, there was no hesitation about where we would stay for the weekend. For this visit we were able to use Priceline for a great rate, even though I very rarely book other than directly with a hotel. So we'll see if the experience is different. I know that the staff will always be pleasant and I don't think they'd change their approach because we chose to save a few bucks.

The beauty, location and overall quality of the property and experience allows us peace of mind for future planning and unless something very unexpected occurs, this will continue to be our home base when visiting Vail.

Where should I start? The rooms were awful and the service was awful. I paid for the room since they would not refund my money and paid again to stay somewhere else. Anywhere else.

We loved the Marriott in Vail. We are Marriott time share owners and we try to stay at Marriott's if they have good reviews. The beds are always the best!!! We highly recommend this Marriott due to all the very pleasant employees ... the valet service was the best ... only took a FEW minutes to get the car ... it was usually out front before we got there ... We had swedish massages in the SPA ... be sure to ask for KELLY ... she is the best!!! The indoor pool & hot tub were very nice & not crowded ... the room service was very expensive but good ... get George for your room service ... he was great. So relaxing we hated to leave ... great bar too. Beautiful views.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a suite if you have children... much more room & well worth it.

The hotel was in a great location right in Lionshead, so that was a huge plus. Short work the the Eagle gondolas. Indoor pool/spa was sufficient. Outdoor pool was small for a resort. Locker/Steam rooms very clean. The room itself was a little small and the view was horrid...right by the air conditioning unit. So sleeping was out of the question due to the constant noise of the unit. That is why we will not be returning to the Marriott on our next trip. If you can be assured that you get a room with a view and balcony it wouldn't be a problem. Valet parking is mandatory and is $28 during peak season and $21 off peak. There is free parking in the summer/fall but is quite a walk, you wouldn't want to walk that far with luggage.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a even number room..the odd number have a horrible view. At least that was the cas...

All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, a big plus for me. The restaurant was unbelievably slow with just okay food but the staff there were also nice. The room is a typical hotel room but dark. That could have been our location (we faced north). It was very quiet at night. The shuttle access is right outside the lobby.

This hotel was amazing. Not too badly priced for a hotel in Vail with a view. Staff was very friendly. Room was beautiful and everything was perfect. I would gladly come back here next time I am in Vail. The only downside is that you have to pay for the parking per night. This kind of sucked given there is not many places to park in Vail. The small downside was nothing compared to the amazing experience.
