We stayed at Simba Run 5 days and found it to be very nice. We thought the condo we stayed in was very comfortable and had what we needed to utilize cooking in the kitchen. We had a two bedroom condo though we only needed a one bedroom. Thus we had the choice of which room to stay in while there. We decided on staying in the guest room and not the master bedroom because we noticed the mattress was less used. The master bedroom mattress needed to be flipped. It has been in that position for a while. The rooms were nice and we enjoyed it. The pool and hot tub were great and they did have movies to pick from for a night found in the lobby. The staff were very helpful. We would stay here again. There was construction which was a bit overwhelming to see when we drove up. The entire place was wrapped in scaffolding. We knew there was construction just didn't realize how much! But like has been noted it was pretty much 8-5 so not really a issue.

Room Tip: Our condo had the master bedroom on the floor where you walk into the condo. The rest of the rooms w...

The condos were undergoing construction when we stayed there. (We were notified in advance). The construction was loud but only 8-5, M-F. Luckily we were only there one day during the weekday to endure the noise. Due to the construction, the outdoor areas were closed (BBQ) which we did not anticipate, so that was a disappointment but we adjusted. The rooms were nice and great accomodations for a family visiting Vail. We were able to eat in more often in the full kitchen fully stocked with all necessary cooking utensils and have the amenities similar to those at home. The unit we stayed in had double and single beds and our friends' unit had a king, queen and double and single (bunk beds). We would have much rather had a king or queen bed vs. a double bed. I am not aware of a way to chose which layout we utlimately were assigned (thus the 3 star rating on the rooms). There was no "room service" to speak of and the front desk was only open during certain hours, but the hours worked for us. The staff was great and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

This was at least our 20th stay at Simba. We originally started staying at Simba when our son was small as the condo and pool worked great for our family. Obviously we've continued to return year after year. Each condo is individually owned and decorated. The amenities are quite acceptable. Simba is across the highway from the skiing and Vail but a continuous shuttle makes this barely an inconvenience. While it's not necessary, we have found it convenient to rent a car for evening activities (parking in the Vail and Lionshead parking structures is free after 3 pm). Simba is an excellent value and I would highly recommend for a family visiting Vail.

Room Tip: We like the view from the fron building

Stayed in condo 1506 first week of April 2013.  Condo was fantastic.  Great views over Vail mountain.  Some minor road noise from I70 but not detrimental in any way.  The condo was spacious and very well appointed with nice furnishings and nice personal touches throughout the condo reflecting the fact that this is someones 'home from home'.  Two bedroom unit, both bedrooms were large with two beautiful carved wooden framed beds in the kids room and a huge super king or something in the main bedroom, which also had a walk in wardrobe and en-suite with 3/4 sized bath.  One additional bathroom with shower (no bath).  Living room and dining room very pleasant to spend time in.  Kitchen very well appointed with everything you need to cook and prepare meals.  As far as the condo goes, could not fault it, except for one thing - see end of review.

Facilities - large swimming pool was almost always empty between hours of 4pm and 7pm and the outdoor hot was was clean and relaxing. The DVD services was first class.  A bit like a vending machine with a touch screen interface, good selection of DVDs and easy to use.  The free Starbucks coffee was fine, good to take down to the pool/hot tub.  Maid service emptied bins every day.

Shuttle bus - in the main excellent service.  Picks you up from the garage (which is underneath building 1), just outside the ski locker rooms - so very convenient.  Usually no more than a 5 minute wait and typically plenty of room on bus.  Return bus from Lionshead always reliable, max wait was 10 minutes but often much less.

The negative, which results in this being a 4* review instead of a 5*, was the bus service from Vail Transportation Centre on one day when we were waiting 45 minutes without a bus (we saw one go past empty, not even stopping, and two others turning at the roundabout back to Simba).  In the end we had to take a taxi back (2ith skis and 2 children) but the management at Simba did not seem concerned and did not offer to reimburse the taxi fare.  This was the only let down on what would have otherwise been a flawless stay.

The only other point of note was on the last night our youngest son (who happens to have learning difficulties) locked himself alone in his bedroom - the room was equipped with a deadlock which could only be operated form the inside.  We had to call maintenance who then had to break in to the room.  Rooms designed for children should not have this type of lock on !!

Would certainly return to Simba Run, admittedly it is not the best located of accommodations in Vail (but neither the worst), but it was a fraction of the price of the others.  The bus service, usually very reliable, makes the location tolerable.

My father and I just took a wonderful 5 night, 6 day holiday in Vail, Colorado for some sun and skiing (and beer let's be honest). When choosing among places to stay in Vail, one might suffer from severe sticker shock! However, my resourceful father stumbled upon Vail's Simba Run Condominiums. Basically these are privately owned units, available for short term stays via the managing agent of the property.

What makes this a neat concept is that each of the units vary in decor according to the owner's tastes, but management does a great job of ensuring minimum standards of modernity and cleanliness are met. While our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit was not the snazziest, it was very well maintained and super cozy. We had stunning views of fresh snowfall from floor to ceiling immaculate picture windows, a functioning fireplace, a lovely flat screen TV and comfy beds with super fluffy comforters.

The best part was, we each had our own bedroom and bathroom, and management/the owner left us little samples of products to try, which was a sweet touch. Unlike a hotel, we also had a functioning kitchen with all the utensils and gadgets we needed. They even had coffee, sugar, salt and pepper and other small items available for use. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was also fantastic, and they even thought to leave us a small box of Tide.

We did have a minor hiccup during our stay, but management's response was so prompt and concerned that I felt truly accommodated and cared for. They are very attentive and really value their guests. They made us feel welcome and important!

I cannot wait to go back for another father daughter ski trip, and Simba Run certainly feels like home. What could be better for family to share?

Room Tip: Since views can vary, ask for something facing the woods and not the highway. Also if you are picky...

We've stayed at Simba Run several times over the past few years. It's a wonderful value, huge pool, and great outdoor hot tub. There's a machine in the lobby to help yourself to hot chocolate and coffee. The 2/2 offers a washer/dryer and the shuttle runs every ten minutes during the day. Michelle Davis and the man behind the front desk have been there for years and do everything they can to make your stay pleasant. All of the people that I've met throughout the years return year after year, which says alot. I needed a room and called the day before I wanted to arrive and MIchelle was very accommodating because she looked up my name and could see that I was a repeat guest. It's a very warm atmosphere because they really know their guests.
