This is a relatively modest site but intriguing and recommended none-the-less. We visited on a warm spring day and it was perfect location for a picnic and a bit of romano-british history as the main draw. There are several amazing mosaics still on site with bits and pieces of other features (under floor heating) and parts of bath houses.

Don't expect too much and you wont be disappointed. As with most Roman sites all that remains from those times is a few stumps of masonry and some cracked mosiacs, and thats exactly what you get here. However the trust to their credit have made an effort to evoke the atmosphere of how the villa would have looked and functioned 1600 years ago. There's an adequate reception area with the obligatory shop, together with an introductory film to the site, Roman life and its discovery in the 19th Century. Then its outside to view the said stumps and mosiacs. Catering facilities consist of a tea tent, if you want to eat press on to Snowshill Manor it has one of the best NT cafes I've visited. Best to visit in dry weather as all outside!
