Dirty. No, filthy. Outdated? I’d LOVE outdated. This place should have been razed in the 70s. Staff would rather be ANYwhere else than here. Hot tub was literally overflowing with suds from too much chlorine. People (including children) were coughing and rubbing their eyes from the fumes. Several calls made to front desk, but it took over an hour for anyone to show up and try and correct the problem. We were on our way out by then, so I have no idea what happened afterwards. Furniture in room was damaged and broken. Not all the lights worked. Waited 20 minutes in the restaurant for a "hot fudge sundae" which ended up being a 7-11 brownie with some whipped cream on the side. When I made my way from a high top to the bar to pay for said delicacy, the Cretan running the bar had the nerve to shout out at me suggesting that I was trying to dine and ditch. Nice. Good news, there were only 7 people in the entire place. Including "staff." No wonder it took 20 minutes to "make" my son's takeout desert. Hot tub also had green mildew. There were no towels. Took the stairs several times bc elevator is so slow and discovered that the smokers' door is unlocked. Did i say "unlocked?" Correction: there IS NO LOCK. Unfettered access from the outside.

Okay okay. I'm ranting. Put it this way: they're a stone's throw from the WP ski area. And they know it. And they know you know it. So...be prepared to pay for location location location. And NOTHING else.

good luck....

Myself and a group of friends stayed at the WPML for a week and really enjoyed our stay. We booked through Crystal Holidays and took the half board option.
Breakfast was continental style with a choice of cereal and hot options with plenty of coffee and juice. The evening meal was a choice off the restaurant menu. There was a good selection. My only criticism would be the portion sizes - there was probably enough food for 2 people on each portion. Also included was a small drinks package - 3 drinks a day, which included beer, wine, spirits or even cocktails if you wished.
I didn't use the pool or sauna area but two of our group did and they assured me that it was clean and tidy and that the hot tubs were nice and hot.
The bar is quiet (ideal for a après drink), and has a pool table, juke box and a couple of arcade style machines to play.
Reception staff were great - always happy to help. On one occasion one of the staff even gave us a lift into town - a service beyond their call of duty.
The rooms were kept clean and tidy. Clean sheets and towels were available on a daily basis.
The bus service was superb. They turned up when they were supposed to every time (even when we had a good dump of snow).
All in all this hotel does exactly as it says on the tin. If you come expecting a 5 star quality hotel you might be a little disappointed but if you remember that this is a 3 star establishment then I think you will be impressed. Given the chance I would definitely return to this establishment.

This Hotel is extremely close to the Winter Park resort and overall a good value. We booked as part of a package and feel that we got our money's worth out of our stay. Our room was clean and not as dated as expected based on other rooms. The carpet is old and was fraying around the doors but not anything shocking. The heat in the rooms worked well, shower worked well and we had a beutiful mountside view. The checkin staff were fine and checkin/out both went quickly. My one concern was the lack of locks on the outside doors that are unattended. We did not eat at the restaurant based on ohter's comments. Our room was near the restaurant and it never had more than 2 tables filled - so I'm assuming others followed suit. Breakfast is too pricey for the area. Would prefer something less expensive or better yet - free continental breakfast.

We got a room here because of the convenience to the mountain at Winter Park and the price. For those two reasons, it's fine. However, the experience was not great. Parking is "first-come, first served," which means people who stayed the night before and have checked out but are skiing for the day still have their cars in the garage when people are checking in for the next night. We could not use our "free" parking pass because of this. We parked outside around the back of the building and hauled our gear up to our room by the side stairs - the only elevator is next to check-in, only convenient to the parking garage. This would not normally be such an issue but because we couldn't use the heated garage, we didn't want to leave our ski boots and outer gear outside to be frozen in the morning. We left our skis locked on top of our car and just trusted that they would be alright in the morning. (They were.) One concern -- the outside doors were never locked and therefore accessible to anybody at any hour, on the other side of the building from the check-in and not visible from the street. That didn't really seem safe to me. Our room was clean enough and though quite outdated, it had adequate towels and TP. My children settled in to watch a movie and discovered that our remote control didn't access the "movie channels" advertised on the TV and the pamphlet in the room. When we called to ask for help, we were told that only some of the rooms have that kind of TV. It is basically luck of the draw whether you get a room with movie channel access. We thought that was very odd. The mattresses were fair -- a little too soft for all of us. No minifridge or included continental breakfast. Again, for what we needed, the room was functional, but overall not worth the money or experience. I'll stay somewhere down in Winter Park or Fraser next time to get the amenities I would expect in your average hotel.

I think it's important to remember that this a three star hotel and a very good one in my opinion. If you go expecting five star luxury, you will be disappointed. This is a hotel that's geared up for skiers - you can wear your boots in the hotel and store all your stuff in your room. It has a relaxed feel where anything goes and nothing is too much of a problem.

The rooms are nice and big. We had a room with two double beds overlooking the mountain. There is a train that goes through town tooting its horn every now and again. Worth taking a set of ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Our friends stayed on the other side of the hotel (forest view). Previous reviews talked about being woken by the noise from the snowmobile company in these rooms. My friends had no such problems. I guess it depends how long you're sleeping in the morning, and whilst we're on the subject of snowmobiles - well worth doing one of their tours - amazing !!

Location: the hotel is not in the main part of town, but is very close to the slopes. Unfortunately it's the wrong side of an interstate and therefore you still have to get a bus – however this is free and reasonably regular. We had the option to do half-board and were very grateful that we did. The food was plentiful, not exactly à la carte, but good value and saved having to go out after a long days skiing.

The staff were amazing - incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

The spa area was nice after a day on the slopes. My only grumble is that the sauna kept breaking down and really needs to be fixed properly.

My only slight complaint was see brand new tv's being fitted in the bar whilst we we're there and (to my utter disgust) one being fitted in the restaurant area. If there is money to be spent, there a higher priorities and a restaurant NEVER needs a television.

To summarise - yes the hotel is a little tired and probably could be with a bit of a refurb. That said, we found it to be great value for money with a nice relaxed feel and the staff really make you feel welcome. Thank you for a nice stay.

Recommend not spending your hard-earned money at this location. The staff in the restaurant are unprofessional...whether eating in the bar area or dining room, the staff are too busy talking among their "buddies" to provide any good service at all...just horrible service. The food is also far below par. They claim to have 3 chefs...maybe one good one would do. The food was horrible, period. When the bill arrived, it was wrong. Instead, they charged our credit card twice for over $60.00, twice. Now three weeks later and 4 calls to their hotel manager and restaurant manager to correct this problem...NOTHING! Still trying to resolve this problem. Avoid this place like the plague! They are many other options in the area...cross this off your list. Very unprofessional and customer service stinks!

We stayed here for only one night with our toddler, and enjoyed our stay. Kyle helped us check in early (thanks for that, mate) and in fact was very accommodating the whole time. The midday checkout on departure was also helpful. The hot tubs were great but the pool a bit cold. Didn't try the sauna. There's no loo's in the pool area, so take a leak before you head down. Our heater worked well and we had a room on the 4th floor facing the highway, which gave us great views over the resort and ski areas. No noise from highway. Very clean rooms - kudos to the housekeepers - no-one leaves a tip for these workers, but they really do a great job here, so I tipped 'em good, as I hate a dirty hotel room...

We dined at the restaurant for dinner and brekkie. Dinner was a bit plain, the pasta was downright terrible, veggies tasted like from a freezer, a bit pricey for what it was. Brekky was pure extortion at $14. We made the most of it and ate as much as we could but still felt ripped off. I recommend you make other plans for eating while in Winter Park.

Tip for Winter Park newbies - To get around, use the shuttle buses which look like old american school buses. We had no idea about these until our toddler went absolutely crazy after we had walked half a mile through snow with all our luggage, stroller etc. A shuttle bus noticed our situation and stopped for us - what a blessing, if only we knew about those earlier! Shuttle bus drivers are great, so helpful and full of 'local' advice!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 4th or 5th floor, facing the highway.
