This was our second time to Sun Spot for Christmas Eve Dinner. We selected the five- course dinner both times instead of the buffet. This year (2017) was pretty much the same options as last year, but the food was still excellent. Last year as the main course, I had the Elk and this year, the Colorado Ribeye. You can't go wrong.

The service was also great. Our server was knowledgeable about the wine and beer selections and did a great job of explaining the options. Each course was perfectly timed. And the views of Winter Park below always make for a wonderful time.

If you go to Sunspot, you should know that your reservation time is the time you should arrive at the Ski Lift at the base. Don't arrive early and there is no one outside to let you know this as you're waiting in line. We didn't make this mistake, but saw a number of people who did. You should also make reservations for holiday dining.

Overall, we would recommend Sunspot for your holiday dinner. It is a great experience.

When we made our reservation we were very clear that this dinner was our daughter's 21st birthday. When we were seated the hostess even referenced the special occasion, however the entire meal the event went unnoticed. The waitress asked to see her ID, mentioned that it was her birthday, but that was it. You'd think that at some point the information would be shared amongst the crowd, but it wasn't. The meal options were nice & well prepared. Our waitress was a bit scatter brained, but overall did an okay job. Not sure we'd return - especially for a special occasion because they go unnoticed. :(

Intimate wedding venue, good dinner of surf and turf. The fish was a trout which was a little overdone for most fish-eaters but good flavor. The filet was medium rare and somewhat flavorless. Appetizers were very good. Staff was very attentive. Venue was SPECTACULAR!

We visited The Lodge at Sunspot for a well publicized free event to view the 92% eclipse (couldn't view the total eclipse from there). There was a party/concert atmosphere as 200-300 or more other people joined us. The staff brought out lawn chairs and gave away eclipse viewing glasses. You could order drinks and we opted for a couple of bottles of water which we were not charged for because they were not completely chilled. When the eclipse was over, we had lunch in the dining room. We did have to wait in a long line and then another 20 minutes after we got to the head of the line. But it was understandable considering the popularity of this once-in-a-lifetime event. We bought a package that included chair lift tickets and a $10 voucher off lunch (the only way to get up to the Lodge is on the lift or to hike up the mountain). The food was rather pricey, but delicious. Service was attentive, views were spectacular, eclipse watching was unforgettable!

There were 17 in our group, 9 kids and 8 adults. We had been at the base of the hill enjoying the unlimited adventures. We paid $5 extra for the adventure pass and received a $10 voucher for Sunspot. I had made reservations, but due to lightning in the area, the lift was shut down for a half hour, but they held our reservation. The view from Sunspot is fantastic. The bison burger with bacon was excellent, the half pound beef burgers with bacon were extremely good as well. According to everyone, everything we ordered was good. Our waiter was right there the entire time. Water glasses never got empty, empty plates were taken away right away. The price was a bit high, but the coupon s bought it back down to a reasonable price.
