This is actually a vacation rental, we exchanged through Interval International to stay here. This is an older property, seeing many ski seasons. The property was very clean and well kept. We stayed on the third floor, no elevator, this was only an issue on the move in and move out, but I don't believe the property would be a good choice for people with mobility issues. We stayed in a two bedroom with both bedrooms upstairs, and yes the stairs are very steep, use the handrail! The condo was very well equipped and did I mention clean? The views out the front and back were awesome. We had variety of wildlife on our back patio including a daily chipmunk visit and an occasional fox. The property has a heated outdoor pool, two hot tubs inside and a men and women's sauna. We used the hot tub and pool several days. There are also two grills available out by the pool which we used two different nights. They have a midweek towel exchange and tidy up (means empty trash). About the train, yes there is a train track very close to the hotel. And, if you stay in the back of the property, which we did, it is right outside your window. I was pleased to find a box fan in the closet, turned it on and never heard the train at night. We where gone most of the time during the day, so the train was not really an issue for us. You can walk to a variety of stores and restaurants from this property. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We would recommend the Zip Line tour at Devil's Thumb, Doug and Stephen gave us an awesome trip! Also the Red Tail River Trip on the Upper Colorado was great! Ask for Mouse, best river guide out there. And every summer trip should include the Trail Ridge Road trip up through the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are closest to train tracks. There are some accessible rooms off the pool on the left side of the property.

My fiancé and I stayed here for 4 days in April 2013 for some Spring skiing. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit which was more than enough room for us. The first level has a powder room and then a separate shower next to it. The kitchen, living and dining are also on the 1st level. The kitchen came fully stocked and included a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, stove, oven and fridge. The upstairs included one full bathroom and a master bedroom with a queen size bed and the two other bedrooms had two full beds each. One issue we had was the stairs. They were very steep and we both fell and slid down them on our behinds. Be careful when going down the stairs.
The facilities included two hot tubs which we used after each day of skiing. We never saw anyone else use them or never really saw anyone else at the property the whole time. The location is very quiet but is within walking distance to town and near many restaurants. There is a bus that stops right outside of the property which makes it easy to get to Winter Park Resort. The property provided us with everything that we needed but it would be great to see it updated. We are actually staying at this property again in March but will be bringing our friends and family this time. I booked a reservation here using our timeshare through Interval International.

We stayed in a three bedroom townhouse which though it is now dated has all the facilities you would need. The apartment is in a quiet location just above the town of winter park. The accommodation is clean, spacious and has all the facilities needed. We were delighted by the wild life visiting the patio particularly the comical baby chipmunks . The beds were really comfortable with toilets and showers upstairs and downstairs. There is a good sized pool on site and there is evidence that they are upgrading the facilities. We were surprised at how busy the car park was because it is so quiet which commends the sound proofing of the rooms.

The place was extremely clean but very dated. Fire detector was hanging out of the wall with wires hanging out, the couch had stains and tears in it. The lightbulb was out un the bedroom and even though they said they would send someone to fix it, no one ever did. All in all not bad, just looks as though it needs some tlc and updating. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space.

Lion's Gate Pine Lodge was a charming resort with easy access to the mountains. We enjoyed hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. The rooms were cozy and clean. Yes, the train runs through the town - not a problem for me and it did not wake me up. We stayed five nights and had a great time.
