i like that it was close enough to main st. to go for a walk w/ a stroller, the people were pleasant, the room was just fine, & if there was a train, i didnt really notice it. i like how close the room was to the pool, i loved the hot tub room. im going to look into purchasing a time share there because my family & i had a good time.

My parents have a timeshare condo here that they get for 1 week every year (same week every year) and they've had it since before I was born (they probably bought into the timeshare in about 1980 or so). We've gone up almost every year for at least the weekend, though usually not much more than that. I have always enjoyed it. It isn't the nicest place, but it's comfortable - they updated the living room furniture a couple of years ago ('07 or '08, I think) which definitely made it look a bit homier and less outdated.

They have a game room, which my brother and I used to use constantly, but I haven't been in it for a few years. The hot tubs and pool are great - outdoor pool, so make sure to cover it up when you're done! - but I don't like saunas so I can't tell you how it is. They didn't used to have a DVD player but they added one about 5 years ago (they do at least attempt to stay up-to-date) and while the TV isn't massive and flat-panel, it does the job, so we enjoy watching movies in the comfy couches next to the fireplace :). One of our favorite things is pulling out board games/cards & playing on the dining room table - this is the perfect atmosphere for that!

I saw lots of complaints about train noise - that must be just on certain sides of the building, because it really surprised me! I have NEVER noticed a train while staying there - maybe I heard it and didn't register it, but it has certainly never been enough to bother me! We have an inside room (balcony to the pool), so maybe that makes a difference.

This is definitely a good place for families with kids and young teens as well as travelers who aren't picky about lodging - when we go elsewhere with friends we like to find places with nice entertainment centers and that are fairly up-to-date, bu

We found Lions Gate an excellent experience. Convenient to Winter Park shopping and dining, just a block from Hwy 40 and all that Winter Park has to offer. The Winter Park shuttle system stops directly in front of the property and is staffed by friendly and helpful drivers. The facility is clean, our unit well appointed, spacious, and the gas fireplace a wonderful addition to the total experience. Occaisional passing trains added to the ambience of the total high country western experience. We recommend this property to skiers and vacationers seeking comfort and convenience.

absolutely one of the worst timeshare exchanges in over 25 years. this resort should be ashamed of calling itself a resort. how can anyone relax when a train of over 100 cars and sometimes as many as 5 engines is barreling by about 150 feet from your bedroom? amenities? unless a skier don't bother!
and the exchange club-interval international- claims to not know about any problems!

Stay away from this lodge. It is dingy, disgusting, extremely outdated and is 50 yards from a train track with a train passing every 30 minutes except between 2 am and 5 am when it only seemed to come every hour. There is no air conditioning and no fans so you have to leave your windows open to keep from boiling. But with the train going by and blasting its horn about 8 times, there is no way to get any sleep. We ended up only staying here one night and then requested to be moved to another resort. The only thing available through Interval International was in Breckenridge. We moved and ended up far happier. Breckenridge is extremely clean, safe and has so many great things to do, places to eat and shops.

The only good thing about the Lions Gate is that you can walk to all the restaurants and shops in Winter Park. Unless you bring an industrial set of ear plugs - stay away.

We just returned from a family reunion type vacation at Lions Gate Pines Lodge. The facility was clean, but a little dated. They look like they are in the process of renovating some of the units. The recreation room could use some attention also, as the game tables and equipment was worn and needed replacement.

The major draw back is that the resort is about 50 yards from the train tracks. As our bedroom was in the back of the unit, we could hear the trains as they passed about every 2 hours, 24 hours a day. The trains all had about 50-60 cars with engines in the front, middle and rear. They were very loud and none of us got a complete nights rest.
