“Upscale Italian”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

We were over-nighting in the Danbury area while on a road trip and asked the front desk clerk at our hotel for a recommendation for a family-owned, independent Italian restaurant in the area. He recommended Armando's which I had already seen as a possibility on the internet, so we were happy to give it a try. What a great choice! The property is at the end of a small mall, there is plenty of easy parking. The exterior is plain; the entrance lobby is warm, well-lit and immaculately clean. We were greeted immediately and warmly by a young server, who, it turned out, was subbing for the maitre'd who was on break, and who, also, turned out to be our own server, named Bobby. The interior décor is contemporary, warm, uncluttered, and nicely furnished. Seating is available at tables or booths, with good spacing between tables. The restaurant was very busy, only two or three tables were unoccupied when we arrived at 7:00 pm. Our server was excellent. He was eagerly willing to check with the bartender for my favorite gin, which was available. Wine-by-the-glass choices were more than acceptable. Three of us dined: fettucini alfredo (10/10); Cajun-spiced skewered shrimp (10/10); and osso bucco (10/10). All were delicious, well presented and served in a timely fashion despite the fact that the house was full by the time we placed our orders. Highly recommend this restaurant.

“Nice, classic food”
Reviewed 1 March 2014 via mobile

Lovely atmosphere with a diverse menu and good portions. Filet of sole was fresh, pasta orrechiette special and risotto were well prepared, with generous portion sizes. Bruschetta appetizer was lacking, but everything else made up for it. Nice, reasonably priced wine list. Hostess (owner maybe?) was helpful and genuinely interested in our assessment of dinner. Always enjoy visiting this restaurant. Don't go often enough!

“Always a great meal”
Reviewed 16 December 2013 via mobile

If you are looking for great Italian food and a short wait to be seated, this is the place to go. In the greater Danbury to Southbury corridor along I 84 there are limited restaurant alternatives. This somewhat remote location between exits 8 and 9 has become one of my favorites. The food is always great... The chicken Parmesan is my favorite. Been here probably 10+ times this past year.

“Casual cozy comfort Italian cuisine”
Reviewed 6 November 2013 via mobile

We visited on a weekday night. Table cloths and floral decor created a cozy warm atmosphere. Simple Italian fair and an assortment of wines by the glass furthered the experience. Bet fairly priced dinner as well. We will return.
