We were over-nighting in the Danbury area while on a road trip and asked the front desk clerk at our hotel for a recommendation for a family-owned, independent Italian restaurant in the area. He recommended Armando's which I had already seen as a possibility on the internet, so we were happy to give it a try. What a great choice! The property is at the end of a small mall, there is plenty of easy parking. The exterior is plain; the entrance lobby is warm, well-lit and immaculately clean. We were greeted immediately and warmly by a young server, who, it turned out, was subbing for the maitre'd who was on break, and who, also, turned out to be our own server, named Bobby. The interior décor is contemporary, warm, uncluttered, and nicely furnished. Seating is available at tables or booths, with good spacing between tables. The restaurant was very busy, only two or three tables were unoccupied when we arrived at 7:00 pm. Our server was excellent. He was eagerly willing to check with the bartender for my favorite gin, which was available. Wine-by-the-glass choices were more than acceptable. Three of us dined: fettucini alfredo (10/10); Cajun-spiced skewered shrimp (10/10); and osso bucco (10/10). All were delicious, well presented and served in a timely fashion despite the fact that the house was full by the time we placed our orders. Highly recommend this restaurant.
