We have been to the farm twice, including last Fall. Bison are NOT cows. They are very independent and are not easy to keep penned up. They run faster than a racehourse (up to 35 MPH) and can jump higher than a deer (over 6 feet). They looked health and well cared for; similiar to those in the wilds of Yellowstone or Custer State Park.
This is a working farm and it looks it; flies and manure everywhere. The employees/owners were friendly and both times they gave an excellent tour. They explained about the bison we saw as well as the history of bison in the American West.
Visitors must come expecting to see reality; not a Hollywood or Disneyland prodiction. We plan to return.

“This Place is a Joke. Old MacDonald is rolling over”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013

OK, I went with an open mind after seeing a number of poor reviews. Traveled 75 miles only to be treated in a rude and very unfriendly manner by the owner Deborah. This woman is totally unprofessional, unapproachable and rude to anyone that may have had a question. When my wife and I arrived we were pleased to see a bus group was just wrapping up their trip. Hayden the Grill Cook informed us that "LUNCH " had ENDED.(This is at 1:30 in the afternoon.) Rude Deborah was present and overheard the conversation. She then ordered a Bison Burger and stuffed it down her throat like this was her last meal. This woman can be described in one word (NASTY) Overall the Farm is in dis-repair. Hopefully the State of Connecticut Tourism Board will recognize that this is a destination for that should not be mentioned on their website. Don't Waste your time. E-I-E-I- OH.

“Wonderful time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2013

We went in late November for a hayride with our son and his family (3 kids, 10, 2 1/2, and 1). Had a wonderful time, two wagon loads of people, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Very scenic and informative, over 100 buffalo.

Felt almost eerie, being in a tractor-drawn,open wagon with buffalo literally feet away. Calfs had been born in October, so that was an unexpected treat. Had a nice gift shop. We all throughly enjoyed it. Plan on going back in the spring.

“REFUTING 2008 REVIEW "WORST FARM IN CT" - NOT!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2013

Obviously the person who wrote the nastygram doesn't know anything about farms, or about animals. It is not reasonable to expect a working farm to look like your manicured back yard. Farms have flies. If you had animals in your back yard, you'd have flies there too. I visited in summer 2012. Buildings were in reasonable repair (again, farm outbuildings aren't supposed to look like your living room) and animals looked well-nourished and healthy. Owners were friendly and informative. The bison that they sell is reasonably priced and delicious. It's a great place to take children. If you call ahead you can plan a group hayride with bisonburger lunch for $15 pp.
