I go to Chili's because I like the chili--a little zing and no beans--and it's usually pretty quick. This time, however, I was disappointed. My wife and I got there early, 10:45 a.m., but that was the opening time posted on the door. Nobody greeted us, but I saw a waitress sitting down, doing something. I asked if the restaurant were open. She looked at her watch and said yes. We were the first customers that day. I ordered the chili-and-salad special, plus a cup of coffee, and my wife ordered a sandwich and salad. After about 15 minutes, I got my coffee, and my wife got her salad. Fifteen minutes later, the waiter told us the rest of the food would be up shortly. I asked if he could at least bring me my salad now. He did so. After another 15 minutes, I got my chili and my wife got her sandwich. This was 45 minutes after we took our seats. The waiter explained that the kitchen staff was busy filling a catering order, but I was not mollified. It seems to me that you should not admit customers unless you are prepared to serve them.
