“Great place, average food”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Stopped there for a lunch while in Essex.
It's an old place with a lot of historical artifacts - lots to see inside.
The food was quite average, but inexpensive - not much to say about it.

“very nice Thanksgiving”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

It was just my husband and I for Thanksgiving this year, so we decided to go out. Pretty day for a drive and then a leisurely buffet Thanksgiving meal. Thoughtfully and carefully prepared traditional meal with a few epicurean twists. Yummy! Great service and smiles. My husband enjoyed hot buttered rum to warm him before dinner. The only disappointment was the apple pie that reminded me of Table Talk pies. Considering the cost of a full Thanksgiving spread and what ti woudl have cost $35.00 per person was very reasonable.

“ThANKSGIVING AT THE GRIS”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

We went to the Griswold for their Thanksgiving Buffet. We were seated at a nice table for two.We were made comfortable by staff and did not feel any rush. Three salads were offered-fresh green salad with cranberries and blue cheese for toppings, a three bean salad made with not the usual canned three beans, and an orzo salad with olives. The main course choices were roasted root vegetables, sweet potatoes, green beans corn bread dressing, whipped potatoes a fish dish, roasted pork, and a carving station with beef and turkey. When I say that everything was cooked to perfection I am not exaggerating. Nothing was under cooked..or overlooked,All was seasoned nicelyDeserts were home made.
The only thing that might have made the day more perfect was a room in the Inn to sleep off our over- indulgent eating and a doggy bag of food for munching much later!

“Wine Bar is great!”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

Over the years the 'Gris' has been a mainstay in our dining choices. Mostly for their Hunt Brunch, which is fantastic. Last night we joined a group of friends at the new Wine Bar. Very nice. They have a great selection of tapas type dishes that are perfect to go along with an evening of wine tasting. Their wine flights are varied and offer selections that would meet anyone's tastes.
We can't wait to head back!
