“Good food, good prices”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

Great pub food and prices were good as well. Will definitely be returning the next time I am in Connecticut. The waitress was by herself with a couple large parties but still did a good job of giving us good service.

“Fun place where all the food is good.”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

AJ's Steak & Pizza is a family restaurant where all the food on the menu is really good. I have lived about three miles from it for almost 8 years now and just recently started going. Boy have I missed out all these years. All types of dishes, fun for the kids as they get to eat peanuts and through the shells on the floor. Ceaser salad dressing homemade like no other around here. The staff is friendly. The only thing that could be inconvenient for someone is that they only take cash however there is an ATM machine inside. If you have peanut allergies, you might not want to go. One of my favorite places in the Litchfield, CT area.

“hidden gem”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

i had never heard of AJs and was reluctant to go but decided to eat there after reading the reviews on trip advisor. After biking 27 miles we were definitely ready for a good meal and we were not dissapointed. There were 6 or so beers on tap and we had several pitchers. The salads are excellent and very large. I had the fish and chips special which was very good. The inside was rustic tavern like and comfortable. The portions are large and very affordable. I will be back soon.

“Neighborhood Pub”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

There are two wineries in Goshen, one package store, two restaurants, and two banks. No gas stations or traffic lights, and the other restaurant is only for breakfast and lunch. AJ's is for meeting friends and family dining. The menu includes steaks, pizza (of course), burgers, wings, sandwiches, and salads, with all portions more than adequate and prices that are very reasonable. Full bar and lots of beers on tap. Wednesday dinner is seafood night, and Thursday evening boasts a prime rib dinner with soup or salad for only $9.99. There is barrel with an unending supply of peanuts in the shell, and patrons are encouraged to serve themselves and toss the shells on the floor. Best of all is the waitstaff and bartenders, all of whom are friendly and work efficiently. No credit cards accepted, though. There is an ATM on site and another at one of the bank next door.

“Bargain Good Food in a Very Casual Setting”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

The trick about this place is to drive around the back of a white building and look for the door going into the basement. My first time here was bewildering as the locals know exactly how to get in but a newbie can drive away wondering what the secret is! The restaurant is noisy and slightly stuffy (i saw one room air conditioner trying hard to lower the temperature) however the food is really good. I had an open steak sandwich with caramelized unions and peppers with a huge side of core slaw. There is a wide choice of menu items and the atmosphere is happy with lots of chatter. We had good service and dinner for two came to less than $40. Will definitely go back!
