I ordered a genoa grinder and it was 2 slices of low grade salami on the whole grinder.

This review is a lie. A Genoa Grinder at Groton Pizza Palace contains a minimum of 5 slices of top-quality Genoa salami (small); 9 slices (large). All of our deli meats are top-quality. Either reviewer has confused Groton Pizza Palace with some other Pizza Palace or this is a malicious review to try to undermine our excellent reputation. Groton Pizza Palace has been owned and operated by the same family for 46 years. It is our only store. Accept no imitations.

“A Trip down memory lane-and well worth the $”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2009

Way back when,I used to spend summers as a child in a nearby community,Pizza Palace was-and still is-to me the gold standard in southeastern connecticut for pizza and grinders ( a new england term for hero sandwiches)

We started with a small mozzarella pizza, topped with extra mushrooms. Others in our party ordered a small egg salad grinder,a large roast beef grinder,a large cheese fries platter, two unsweetened ice teas and a diet coke.

Total cost with tax and tip was $27.

Be advised that Pizza Palace DOES NOT take either credit or debit cards-still cash only after all these years. They operate in a new building but still have the same address and phone number.

They are located at 944 poquonnock road -also known as US route 1- in Groton,Connecticut.

Phone number is [--].

Really good greek style pizza place. The crust here is really good and always crispy. Service can be slow sometimes but you can call ahead and order to stay there and eat.

“Horrible service, bad pizza”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2008

We went to Pizza Palace based on the reviews from tripadvisor. What a disappointment. The service was horrible. On a Tuesday night it took 25 minutes to get our drinks (cokes). We got our wilted salads after 35 minutes of waiting, and then at the 1 hour point the first of two pizzas we ordered arrived, and it wasn't what we ordered. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, I finally asked for the check without getting our second pizza. The wait staff didn't seem to care that we'd been waiting that long, or that our order was wrong. We also overheard other customers complaining about their poor service. The manager did not charge us for the pizza we didn't get, but after waiting that long, who cares.

As for the pizza...imagine Pizza Hut's deep dish...greasy and chewy. If that's what you like, then this place is for you.

We won't be back.

“I use to think this was...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2008

I use to think this was the best pizza in the area but since they moved it hasn't been as good. I'll give it a shot again in a couple months to see if they fix whatever they are doing wrong with the new ovens.
