“Good for an Extended Stay, Just not Room 305!”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

My husband and I stayed just recently after selling a house. We "lived" here for 3 weeks in Building 300. Ten units. We stayed in 310, second level. Efficiency Studio - awesome NEW kingsize bed, very comfortable. Bedroom, sitting room, TV and kitchen all big open room. The rooms are dated, and could use a good freshening up. Full stove, sink, micro, toaster, big fridge. This unit had a big pantry, so for long stay, you could have a stock of food, and not worry about running to the grocery store, or eating out .Large walk in closet, and small closet. Set of 4 dishes, silverware, a couple pots/pans, coffee pot. It took 2 request to have maintenance check out the rattling a/c. Never fixed it.

BUT, the outside lights went off early, though they claimed til 6:45. You need to be an owl if you want to walk down the outside stairs. Same with the front hallway, No lite; mention it to a worker, wont do anything unless there is a work order on it, so for 3 weeks, it never got fixed. We didn't use the front stairs .

Second time we were there for 1 week. Lower level, room 305. STAY AWAY. Same style room, less storage. The laundry room is right below, people let the door slam. Also, there is a maintenance room right below; home during the day - they are not quiet.
Price was great - $80/ night, its the tax of $12 that kills you!
Never ate at the restaurant, or drank at the bar. Front desk was nice.

Thank you for staying with us for the extended period. Its good to hear that the room met your needs for the 3 week time period. You'll be glad to know the lighting issue and other maintenance requests have been resolved. Look forward to having you stay with us in the future.

I was going to try to say positive things about the two night stay at the hotel but the only thing I could think of was the email correspondence prior to our 'vacation'..the person was really nice and helpful and so was the person who checked us in and out. And that's about it for the hotel. 1)The minute you walk in..really strong cigarette smell..and it was even worse in our room..we requested a 'non smoking room' because of our two small kids..but this room was pretty bad. 2) Room had paper thin walls..had to keep our very loud fan/ac/heat on the whole night to block the noise in the hallway at 3am. 3) The breakfast service on our second day...absolutely awful!!! Sat at the bar to get quicker service but we not only waited 1hr before we even got or food..but the bar waitress was awful (not apologetic or even asked us if we needed anything). The people who sat next to us, got to their seats 20mins before us and didn't get served until we finished our food. It was unbelievable. We travelled to this part of Connecticut for a wedding and this place was mentioned in the wedding invitation. If i knew then what i know now..i would have not selected this for our guests with kids. Hope they do major renovations/clear the smoke smell/ and hire more waitresses like the ones NOT at the bar (which were really nice)...and then maybe we can recommend it to others.

We were joyriding through CT and wanted to stay in Mystic but everything was booked. Groton Inn & Suites is so close to Mystic and so easy to get to from the 95 that it was almost as good as staying in Mystic itself. The staff were VERY friendly and helpful. They offered some suggestions for our visit and even printed maps for us. There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel. The complimentary breakfast was decent but not quite the Inn's selling point. The Inn is a bit older but not a grimy type of old if that makes sense. If in the area again, will definitely stay here and explore Goton itself.

Room Tip: There aren't elevators but the stairs are not steep or plentiful.

This was our first visit to Groton and in fact Connecticut. Our visit was for a reunion and we were very pleased with the "INN". From the time we entered the door we were made to feel welcome and any request or concerns we had were met immediately. Our room was spacious and very clean. Groton Inn owners hit the jack pot when they hired Ivan and his sidekick Tony. Two more friendly and enjoyable people are hard to find in "front desk'' positions these days. They are one of the best parts of the Groton Inn. The Inn is close to many points of interest and easy to find. The breakfast...you get to choose anything from their menu ...was wonderful and the wait staff friendly. A banquet the last night of our stay was outstanding, The tables were done beautifully and the food was delicious. Whoever did the cooking did a superb job and the wait staff here was also very friendly and sharply dressed. No disappointments from start to finish....Thursday check in to Sunday check out.

Room Tip: our room at the end of the hall ....201...was VERY spacious and quiet. We highly recommend it.

Thank you for your kind words! My staff will be ecstatic when I share your review with them. Groton certainly is a excellent center point to many attractions such as Mystic and the casinos, so I'm sure you will come visit here again. I'm glad we were able to be a single source of entertainment for your rooms, food, and banquet event. Hope to see you soon!

As a business traveler, I have stayed at the Groton Inn several times for up to a week at a time. Although the hotel is undergoing some much needed improvements and updating, it never interferred with my comfort. The rooms are clean and they are comfortable. A full breakfast off the menu is included.

I can't say enough about the friendly and accommodating hotel staff. I was always greeted with a smile and a kind word, and each request was easily filled.

In my previous line of work I used to travel often, so I can definitely understand the difference a clean and comfortable accommodation can make. I look forward to continually meeting those expectations on your future visit!

The house keeping was out standing and did a great job. They changed sheets when ever asked. I was a relieve knowing your room was done properly. The food was great and I will visit restaurant even if I don't get to stay there. I Highly recommend this place. you wont be disappointed!!

We've been here six or seven times....clean, friendly, free hot breakfast. Yes, a little "old school" in decor, but so what. They have the fundamentals in order. 10 minutes to Mohegan. Save a few hundred dollars versus staying at the casino. Use it for dinner, shopping and games. Will definitley stay again.

Room Tip: Original google directions to the hotel sent us to the wrong exit. Double check directions. Coming n...
