The B&B at Bartlett Farm

We decided to spend the night in the Guilford area before heading out apple picking in the morning and were very fortunate to be able to book "Aunt Bertha's Room" at the B&B at Bartlett Farm at the last minute. The room itself was incredibly clean, with a very comfortable bed and charming decor. I wish the private bathroom in the room would have had a full door separating it from the rest of the room, but I'm not sure the layout allows for it – a very minor complaint.

The family was warm and welcoming, and the weekend breakfast was absolutely incredible - some of the tastiest scones and almost certainly the best frittata we've ever had while traveling. There was also delicious fresh fruit, a bread basket, and cereal and yogurt available. The tea selection was outstanding – we had a hard time choosing!

I’m a huge animal lover, so the nearby farm animals were a huge plus for me. The family also has an adorable golden retriever puppy – another major plus for me. She didn’t come into the guest areas at all, so I wouldn’t let this bother you if you’re not a dog person.

Overall, we were thrilled with our stay and will definitely be back if we’re ever in the area again!

This B&B was an excellent find based on other internet reviews. Friendly & welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent. They offered fruit salad, eggs, homemade breads/muffins and pancakes during our weekend stay. All freshly made. A wonderful front porch to eat on or just for sitting. The farm animals were an added bonus or they are far enough away if you are not interested.

My husband, adult daughter and I stayed at the Bartlett Farm for a night earlier this month. My daughter was thrilled to once again be in the rolling hills of New England as she now lives in NYC. When we pulled into the driveway, we were greeted by "fallow" deer, cream colored, small, not at all skiddish creatures nurtured by the Bartlett family. Do not be deceived by the outside of the farmhouse which could use a little paint. The inside is beautiful....perfectly decorated for a farm house, glistening clean and homey. We stayed in the "Guest Room" which contains both a queen and a 3/4 bed perfect for the three of us. The pillows were a high quality down and the sheets wonderfully soft which is something I noticed and appreciated. We awakened to the sounds of roosters and song birds. Breakfast was delicious. I have stayed in many B and B's (in the U.S., in Canada and in Europe). None had a family which was more delightful. The 13 year old twins, Mabel and Jonny, are great kids; Mabel very responsible, undertaking some tasks to meeting the needs of guests. Jonny is a total hoot! He is friendly, funny and totally accessible, quite unusual in a 13 year old. When he spoke of training his roosters "to be manly" I thought my daughter would roll on the floor! The entire family is warm and wonderful. This B and B will be a totally different experience than ones close to the water which may be more sophisticated but it will bring you in touch with a beautiful part of the CT countryside and with a family which epitomizes hospitality.

We stayed at Bartlett Farm over a last minute Saturday night in August 2011. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was tasty, the farm interesting, and the porch was magnetic, we could barely tear ourselves away. Reading and watching the guinea hens and ducks strut around the lawn was so peaceful and relaxing. The lobster rolls at the Guilford Lobster Pound eventually beckoned. But we'll be back.

The Bartlette's are a wonderful, welcoming family. After finding this place on the internet we will not stay elsewhere when visiting my home state of CT. The rooms are tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast dining area is warm, inviting and there is always coffee and tea available. Diane serves delicious homemade full breakfasts on the weekends and continental during the week. Their working farm is alway interesting to navigate. The animals are a fun addition for the children. They have cows, ducks, chickens, ginnea fowl, rabbits, fallow deer and cats. They make their own maple syrup that they serve with breakfast and have some available for sale. I have never been disappointed with any stay at this B&B.
