“Great lobster rolls”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

We got nice fresh lobster rolls with NO MAYONAISE here. It always amazes me that other restaurants advertise that they have lobster rolls, but when you try to order one without mayonaise, they confess that they only have it in a big tub, already pre-made with mayonaise. Um, that means it was prepared by a food distributor like Sysco.
Anyway, the Guilford Lobster Trap is the real deal (like Abbotts in Noank) and has fresh lobster. The atmosphere is nice for a lunch eating on the dock looking out over Guilford Harbor. We live in town so we took the food to-go, but if you are a tourist, it is a fun, very casual place to eat.

“Great lobster rolls!”
Reviewed 31 January 2013 via mobile

The lobsters could not get any fresher.....right off their boat at the dock. You can sit by the water and enjoy the activity that is associated with the commercial fishing industry. A fun place with the kids

“You better like lobster!”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

The lobster roll is heavenly. A full quarter pound of big pieces of hot lobster in butter on a buttered, toasted New England hot dog roll. So good, so fresh, so hot and tender that you might want a second. Far and away the best lobster roll I've ever had.

The rest of the menu is the only weakness. Hot dog, chips, chili dogs, redhots, cole slaw, sodas. It's all about the lobster roll.

Gotta mention the setting--weatherbeaten picnic tables on a spit of land in a New England harbor, replete with genuine lobster boats, a quirky ferry that offers a one-hour ride around Grassy Island, and stack and stacks of lobster pots and buoys.

And the proprietors are as charming as the setting. They offer swift, cheerful service including plastic cups for your wine or beer and no-rush hospitality. The restaurant was closing at six but the afternoon was lovely and the host and hostess told us to just hang out and enjoy the day. They did ask us to shut the gate on our way out.

Oh, yeah--the rather particular ladies in our group were blown away by the portapotty's cleanliness!

“Great View - worth the price...?!”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

Just felt like having a lobster roll and didn't want to drive to Maine to get it! Great little place around the Marina on the water. What a view and loved watching the boats come in and out!! We did LOVE the lobster rolls - what's not to love fresh lobster w/butter all in a warm bun. My daughter had the clam chowder, wasn't new england clam... it was ok - broth was kind of overpowering fishy. But at $14 dollars a lobster roll.... and a bill of over $60 for 4 for lunch it was hard to decide if it was really worth it!

“Great Summer Place for Views and Food!”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

Drive down to the Guilford town docks and you will find the Lobster Pound. Located right on the marina they offer Lobsters, clams, hotdogs, chowder, and stuffed clams. We have tired them all, and all were great. BYOB, and enjoy the views of Long Island Sound and Faulkner's Island. Mr. & Mrs. Lobster Pound will make you feel like one of their family! Great spot to visit on a nice summer day!
